App for compressing video files

I see thee are a few....could someone recommend one pls?

On an Android phone

it’s just to reduce the file size for sending videos through WhatsApp

WhatsApp already does compress videos heavily, in fact my wife sends me videos through WhatsApp so she can then send the compressed video elsewhere via other means.

Indeed. WA compresses both pictures and videos to death.

does whatsapp do the converting with the phone/device before it starts upoading? or more like Youtube where it will do the converting/processing once the original file is uploaded?

this is for my dad btw....reason I was asking is to reduce file size as upload speed is really poor

It certainly seems much quicker sending via WhatsApp than with other full size methods. Without breaking out some third party tool it would be difficult for me to prove it, but I'm sure it does it beforehand. When you're in the menu to trim a video it shows you the new filesize. Give it a test.

cheers Zefan...had a look on my iPhone - the edit/trim screen doesn't show any filesize (Androidf Whatsapp might display more detailed info) info but I'll give it a try

I sent a 36 mb 1920x1080 video through WhatsApp and it automatically reduced to 6mb and the res to something like. 640x720.
