Is there such an app?

I know for Sainsbury's there is, however it only works in certain stores, so is there a universal app that can scan the barcode and add it all up? Would help and I'd be able to probably save like a fiver.

Cheers.

Don't want to go round the shop doing mathermatics I want my phone to do it for me so I just have to stare at it.

I doubt it, probably only works in certain stores as they're the ones who've open up their pricing system to the app.

The price isn't store in the barcode so a universal app is going to be tricky

Without every store giving you access to their barcodes/pricing you can't do it.

And that will never happen. People never keep an eye on their shop because they haven't spent enough, only so that they don't spend too much, which is exactly what supermarkets want them to do ;)

Sainsbury's is piloting an app that lets you add it all up then you just walk out of the shop without going to a till.

By the time you have worked it all out you will have negated the savings in time spent.

Just accept you may loose out on £1/2 by going to the closest store to you, but you have still gone to the closest store to you.

You're only going to loose money and time in the long run.

If I go to Sainsbury's I spend AGES in there, I could probs save about a fiver.

I'm not on the best wage and I like to put 300-600 a month in my savings account so all the savings the better.

In my local Tesco they have these gun things where you scan and bag as you're going around, then you go to a certain till and just pay for it all. Gives you a running total with any discounts etc as you're shopping. It's pretty good.

Stop shopping at sainsburys, you'll save way more than a fiver.

To be honest.... I've always spent less in Sainsbury's doing a shop than Tesco. Tesco I always seem to have a massive bill, and not walk out with much.

For prices, I've found Asda to be the best (although around these parts, you have to deal with the fact it's in a crappy area, so get to experience the finer side of life ;-) )

Did Aldi/Lidl for a while, but you can only take so much... lol.

You've never seen Sainsburys self scan devices then? They have been around for years and tell you exactly what you've spent and you go through a quicker till for a quick check.

Although I do half of my shops in Sainsbury's (the other half in Tesco), Sainsbury's have a nasty knack of re-arranging their shelves every year. A nightmare for me being partially sighted as I can't see edges very well, just colours. Would be great if there was an item locator added into the barcode app so I can see where such-and-such item is. It would show up like a Word of Warcraft map saying where you are and a dot where the item is :D Also, some items locations aren't that obvious. One example was ice packs. I expected them to be in the pic nic section next to flasks, sandwich boxes, cool boxes and so on. But no, had to ask someone and he took me 4 isles away where the BBQ and solar garden lighting was.
