App to show uptime and Internet traffic ( Ubuntu )

I'm looking for a application to show my computers uptime and Internet traffic.

I've seen Conky but I can't work out how to configure it.

I'm running Ubuntu 6.10 Gnome.

There is always gkrellm, install by sudo apt-get install gkrellm.. the built-in feature list is huge and it *may* be overkill for what you want?

Hello Riddlermarc,

I did try gkrellm last night but I couldn't work out how to resize it. At default size, it extremely small on a 1600x1200 screen.

Any ideas how too?

Hmm, not sure - unless there is a theme you can apply that will make it larger?

What's the problem with conky? IIRC it's just a case of modifying a .rc file?

Check over on the ubuntuforums.org, there are a million and one posts about conky that may help if we can't

did you try typing in uptime in the terminal window?
