Is it just me but in the vid of the Stobart truck being done aren't they committing cardinal sins? Namely, not removing any fittings and running a knife on the bodywork? Look at the bit where the door wraps round to the front grill, the guy seems to run a knife in the gap between the bodywork and grill?
I wondered about that the first time I watched that video back in 2008, having subsequently been involved in the de-fleeting (removal of wraps & prepping for sale) of the 08reg Scania's, I can assure you that the paintwork underneath is as new, I looked very hard for signs of knife scuffs, scratches etc and could find none.
The video is speeded up, watching it done in person subsequently, all I can say is the fitters are extremely skilled, have damn steady hands, and seem to do it perfectly.
I'm sure they scuff the odd one, but I'm yet to see any signs of any scuff marks....
I imagine they could indeed remove trim etc, but guess that adds time & cost to the wrapping process, I would imagine its done to a cost/time per unit basis, I do wonder how long it takes to wrap say 500 trucks!
Just had a look at my current 10plate Scania, again, can't see any marks....
Strikes me as its a skilled thing to do - properly - I certainly would not like to try it!
And given the time in the corner of the video, I would guess the video is aimed at the corporate sector looking to wrap large fleets, quickly, as time is money & all that.
I'd imagine they would take a lot longer & remove more trim etc when wrapping a private individuals pride & joy, but at a higher price.
Give them a call & ask?
