When I upgrade my Mac I tend to do a clean install there too, it just means less garbage on the HDD, I don't see what the problem is. He is clearly a Mac fanboy though, which means he'll never change. Lets face it, he's one of those people who thinks you can only like one or the other, when in fact both are good.

This reminds me of my trip to a certain nosy manufacturer's retail store. The guy there, after confirming I can get a windows 7 upgrade from them proceeded to tell me windows 7 was 'shocking'. I just disagreed and left when he had no evidence to back up this claim.

afaik, that is true, you have to do a format in order to install (though it will prompt you to backup) whereas with Vista you can do an upgrade, and keep all your info.
