*****Apple Fall Event 22nd Oct*****

^^ It'll be gimped. The iPod touch has to push around the same number of pixels as the iPhone 5 but that was A5 compared to A6 with 1/2 the memory. It's the Apple way. *****.

People will expect the mini to be cheaper than the full size - but if the internals are essentially the same it wouldn't be. Smaller size does not equate to cheaper but if the Mini is £399 people will claim its a rip off.

One interesting rumour i read today was the possibility of a keyboard cover for the full size ipad, similar to the Surface ones.
I think it is probably unlikely but could be quite a good option to have potentially.

be interesting to see what comes out, dont really need anything at the moment but you never know what will tweak my interest :)

Near enough a whole day to wait for me though :(

People used to complain that the AppleTV was only 720p.

If they make it 4K, great, how is that a negative move?

They can't win clearly.

Tbh he doesn't seem to understand what the 41mp in the Lumia actually do so I think it's just a bit of a rant in no particular direction with little sense.

Edit: or that electric cars have moved on since the 90s....

Id like to see the new ipad.. so long as the screen remains the same as the ipad 3 or is better and it has performance like that on the new iphone 5S then i shall be upgrading. The clunky ios7 on this ipad is tiresome now. Will need an 3G version.. just hope they dont price them above the current line up. Also hope it doesnt ruin the value of my current ipad as that will make or break it for me.

It's not negative move. Any move forward is better, to a degree. But it's a move into dead zone market. Very few will buy into it and those that will invest in it, will complain about lack of content or quality of conversion.

It's the "be there first" syndrome. It that kind of "we made electric car for all of you commuters" "Yes, but it has a range of donkey cart and needs 2 days to get 70 miles from Kent to London on a rainy night" type of thing. Apple does that in recent months. "We listened carefully to what you all said and...."
"We made iMovie Plus with magic timeline for all of you people who needed professional editing software"
"We made small cylindrical computer with no drives for all of you people who wanted bigger chassis with more drive space"
"We made ipad with smaller screen for all of you people who wanted phone with larger screen"
"We made expensive plastic phone for all of you people who wanted classic iphone to be cheaper"
and so on, so forth.

Apple have a history of dropping or adopting technology earlier than everyone else.

Doesn't always work, but I've used Firewire more often than USB for external disks.

USB, Parallel ports, Floppy Disks, Optical Drives...

Also I can totally understand removing the storage from the Mac Pro. If you're pushing serious amounts of data around (if you aren't, buy an iMac) then 4 bays doesn't really get you that much capacity once you RAID 6 it (n-2). So if you're going to be using an external array, either over a network or direct attached over Thunderbolt then you might as well not bother with internal storage.

None of the things you listed are actual problems, they are things that happened that you didn't like. In which case buy something else.

You're in the minority in that case, USB is the defacto connection for external storage devices, be that USB2 or USB3. The only time I've ever really seen a FireWire externals storage device is on products marketed at Apple. It's why Airs have 2 USB ports and no FireWire ports.

I don't know how legit these are but it's apparently the leaked specs of the rMBP from a post on the Chinese forum weiphone:

I've much prefer Firewire on my old iMac, transferring photos from memory card on a Firewire reader saves me about 90 mins per session.

That is a lot of time (and money) saved.

I now would prefer Thunderbolt over USB3 but the speed difference here is less drastic.

I might be a bit sad the non-retina 15" is going... Was going to get one before Xmas... might have to get a refurb jobby (although I did want the student discount and 3 years apple care)

Why would you want to get a non-retina over a retina?

This is going to be one long keynote! They have a lot of announce!
