Apple iOS 8.4 [Released]

I've been using Apple Music since last night and I am starting to get to grips with it. My initial impression was that it is quite messy with and confusing. I am not sure a "normal" would have an easy time navigating around it. That said, I persevered and getting the hang of it. I downloaded the OSX update last night but yet to try the OSX version of Apple Music.

One thing that i am still yet to find anyone talking about is the fact that Apple Music is a native app and would require an iOS update to fix any bugs with the app. Its a bit of an oversight by Apple IMO.

I updated my iPhone 6+ last night and as usual it was on charge all night and again in the car on the way to work.

I always walk for at least an hour before work, listening to audiobooks and/or podcasts via Bluetooth headphones and tracking with RunKeeper.

After that my battery normally shows 97-98%.

Today, without playing anything at all I was down to 89% after that walk.

Anyone else noticed a dramatic reduction in battery life already?

It's been too early to tell with my usage. I am hoping it is an improvement as the battery life on my 6 has become pretty terrible these last few weeks.

Ah iOS update standard fare. I wonder if it's just a facet of the upgrade process where it resets the battery interface so it has to relearn the capabilities of the battery or something. Seems to happen every single time, without fail.

edit - /cynic Unless this is the last major update prior to iOS9 so to assist adoption they make iOS 8.4 look terrible for battery life to big up iOS9. :D

Well Apple Music is cool!

I got to admit I'm a bit disappointed with it so far. The selection of music is good but it seems such hard work to find it. The playlists are very limited which I also found a underwhelming. I know it’s only just released so maybe them playlists will improve but so far Spotify beats Apple Music hands down when it comes to playlists. I quite like grabbing other peoples playlists and discovering music that way. With Apple music that ability is kind of lost. Not to mention when I did the "For you" thing after spending some time "holding" all those blobs that I didn't like (which takes longer than it should imo) I picked basically a lot of "Rock music" for my likes/love and one of the artists it suggested to me was Rihanna..... errrrr yea ok.

One thing I was a bit  about was the Muse catalogue... Apple Music doesn't have Showbiz ???? Spotify has it.

Otherwise I do quite like the UI and tbh listening to Zane Lowe again was pretty nice. At the moment though this is not going to replace Spotify for me. I will most likely cancel before the end of the free 3 months unless the playlist selection gets ramped up.

The most annoying thing for me is when you add songs to a playlist, it also adds them into My Music. So if I have a lot of artists in a single playlist, the My Music section gets very cluttered because the artists and albums show there even if I only have 1 song chosen.

I like the fact the playlists are separate in Spotify, and I get the choice of saving a full album to "Your Music" to keep things tidy.

Hi All,

Apologies for a dumb post, but im having a issue with my Iphone 5. Just changed to 8.4 a few days ago.

So I put a load of music on my phone and went to walk the dogs at my parents place. The fields dont have much phone signal or data signal. When trying to change music tracks from the one I sent playing first...my music vanished and it was continuously trying to search for data connection.

I found a small patch of signal and my music displayed again. Does the music app only function with data signal now? I'm not at my parents place often so ive no idea how long this has been a requirement.

Anyway, I really dislike how they are turning the music app into an Itunes app and having large artist profiles, recommendations, @connect and everything else. I just want a standard music player function/app with little frills.

I did a proper battery calibration on Friday and it's been a hell of a lot better since

Full charge this morning and it's still at 89%. Granted it's had little use other than music, but even so, by now it would probably be on 60 or less before

Maybe worth a try for those seeing battery issues like I was
