Apple iPhone 3GS - Cracks everywhere...

Hi, I got this phone in June 2009 and it's full of tiny hairline cracks everywhere on the case near the edges where the cable goes in and headphone jack... I had a black 3G before this and had no problems. Here's a few pics to show you the cracks, is there anything I can do? I've never even dropped this phone ever from a great height maybe from my hand accidently onto carpet.

It's a very common problem, loads of people get it. Book an appointment at your nearest Apple Store and show them the phone (no need to take anything else) and they replace it on the spot for you. :)

Would this happen even out of warranty? My iphone is nearly 18 months old now (contract expires at the end of the month) and it's developed a crack going from the dock connector and creeping up the back.

I don't want book a genius appointment and get a 2 hour train to sheffield only to be told it'll cost me over £100 to repair my phone plus another 2 hour train journey to collect it at a later date.
 
Are the replacements redesigned to get around the cracking issue, does anyone know, or are they just a new phone of the same design (and with the same flaws)?
 
I just got mine replaced due to a crack near the dock connecton port.

Although it's fantastic they just swap these out so quickly, what's stopping it happening again?
I looked after my iPhone all the time, never dropped it, never threw it on the bed, it's always been kept in a case and with a screen protector, I'm quite a freak when it comes to looking after my gadgets!
I have been to Apple three times now though, it's over an hour drive to my nearest store if I have to go again I will be seriously miffed. They need to improve the build quality of these ASAP.
 
Luckily one just opened in Newcastle, I alway's upgrade my to the new iPhone so i'm kind of hoping this does get crack's again so I can do the same just before the new one comes out when I come to sell this.

Oh really? I might take a trip to newcastle in the next few weeks, I'll pop in there. :)
 
Well mine is out of warranty, and apple care said that I'll probably have to pay for it. 2 hour train journey and might not get it repaired/replaced without a charge...
 
My launch day 3GS is fine (just taken it out of the case) and I do sometimes not exactly place it on the desk and its taken its fair share of falls.

This case of mine must be good if mines still uncracked!
 
i asked in norwich apple shop today as ive seen these threads he told me they will help up to 4 yrs from release date,, i laughed with him but he told me he is being honest.

he said its obvious they will not help abused they know whats the normal wear,,etc
