Yeah, how dare they give something away that's only one episode, leaving you free to make the decision as to whether you buy the rest of the series.

What do you expect, to open the gift app one day and get 5 seasons of The Wire for free? It's a free gift, if you don't think it's worth the effort required to sign into the store then delete the App and move on.

Caged: There are lots of apps out there that for one day/week are free to download,throughout the year.. I guess we expect more from Apple. Like others say, a few years ago the stuff they gave away was actually worth downloading, it normally isnt any more.

It depends who you are though, if you were Justin Timberlake's biggest fan then you'd probably think the Day 1 gift was pretty decent. Likewise the episode of Africa is a decent demo for people who got an Apple TV for Christmas.

Of course it's pushing iTunes and trying to drive the spend in the store, but that's sort of what Apple exist for

I think two years ago was the last time it was good. They gave away the Top Gear Christmas special (both episodes) for free which was fantastic.
