Apple M1 Ultra

If I’m reading some of those graphs right, does the M1 in my iPad seriously outperform the 3900X in my gaming PC?

Nope. It would do very well in a browser Javascript performance, which is important for your iPad. You can't really do a lot of compute intensive stuff on an iPad. It will be power and thermal throttled pretty quickly. Those benchmarks were running on active cooling at 100%.

Custom IP stuff in there (encoders, accelerators, etc) are used in iOS productivity apps. But it doesn't compare to desktop OS and what you can do there. iPads also have limited Ram (and Ram is allocated to apps differently compared to a desktop OS).

No, its a 100 Watt CPU, its not for iPads.

iPadOS limits what you can do with the iPad, that chip is massively underutilised.

It's exactly the same chip running at the same clocks. iPadOS doesn't let you do good stuff with it though. It will however do very well in browser benchmarks :cry:

The one we are talking about here is half the size of an iPad, the die is longer than a Ryzen Heat Spreader, that's not what they are putting in the iPad :)

They put the M1 in the iPad, not M1 Ultra. It's the same M1 that's in Mac mini, Macbook Air, Pro and iMac.
