Hey all,

Wanting peoples opinion on this? Might upgrade from a PC to this? Should I, or shouldn't I?

Wanting it for games/browsing/graphics work/music/movies.

Thanks

Should have posted in the Mac Hardware forum.

For most people I wouldn't recommend it. For your needs, specifically gaming, I would very much advise against it.

MacBook Pro would make much more sense for you if you're wanting to stay with Apple or a more powerful Windows laptop would be available for the money.

Thanks Slogan. I see, well the gaming wouldn't be intense. General WoW playing. Is it, not as good as the Mac Book Pro?

What target audience is the Mac Air aimed at?

Woah, Macbook Air will not play games well if at all!

The Air is an ultra portable I believe, designed for people who need the portability, reduced weight but still get a full 13" screen.

Gaming wise, WoW a macbook Pro will fit the bill perfectly.

Had a look at the MBP and it's allright. I basically need the laptop for college/uni work. I'm kind of sick sitting infront of the Desktop.

I can pick an Air up for under £900, MBP seems a tad over my budget. Still in two minds. I won't have time to play games tbh, was just thinking the odd few or here. But after buying a console, don't think I'll be playing PC Games.

Air has onboard Intel graphics. Useless for any games playing, just about up to a quick game of WoW. Normal MacBook is same sort of spec with a faster CPU, more expansion and upgrade options. MacBook Pro adds proper graphics and a higher res screen.

You pays your money and makes your choice (or buy a cheap Dell laptop instead and have to endure Vista).

After reading up on the MBP/Air, I've decided I'm going to buy an MBP. Overall it's a better performer then the Air. Wouldn't want to waste that much money on something I wouldn't be satisfied with in the end.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I would seriously steer clear of the Air for games. It's priorities are (1) slim, (2) size, (3) weight (4) basic personal computing and business, ..., (9) gaming.

People say the MBA isn't powerful..... it's lies. Granted it doesn't compare to a MBP, but, come now! It's no slug. It is faster than my old Imac.... so...?????

And no gaming? Psssssh. Lies. I play Sim Tower on it fine under Parallels ;)

The MacBook Air is a laze about the house laptop, albeit in an expensive but stylish way. :p

Students/Travelers alike will also get use out of it too.

In my opinion its most certainly not a main computer, people who can afford to own a MacBook Air own a decent desktop computer.

(Like Me :D )

And me :D

I love how you described me in many ways... "laze about the house", "student", "traveller*", "own a decent desktop"... :D

(* I'll assume you didn't mean pikies)
