Apple Mac Book Air

I handled one today in a shop.

I will be replacing my current macbook with it one day. probably within the next 6 months I think.

The Air is nowhere near as sluggish as I expected it to be, I was pleasantly surprised. It compares quite favourably to the Macbook. The SSD one is actually quite rapid but the price tag's just ridiculous for what it is.

I'll replace my macbook with the next macbook I think, I agree that it's a laptop for people who have a decent desktop and just need/want something ultra portable.

obviously if the macbook is revved in that time I may reconsider.

But seriously, don't judge the air before seeing it in person.

I think the Mac Book Air is targeted towards someone who does not want a lot of power from their laptop, doesn't do an awful lot of work or gaming on it (casual use) but wants a beautiful looking gadget and a very portable one at that.

Given those two "wants", there are now many other laptops that look just as good, are more powerful, are lighter or some would say look nicer (Sony Vaios, Fujitsu Lifebooks etc).

Other points to consider; watching DVDs? Do you want to carry around a portable DVD drive everywhere? Doing so negates the portability of the Air.

However, if you like your Apple then nothing else will be able to sway you, in the end :)
