Apple MAC Likes & Dislikes ? Your views

My only real complaint is 3rd party support still. Some apps like MSN messenger, although there is enough to get by, it just isn't as feature rich as its windows equivalent.
But tbh that's my only complaint.
 
If you are struggling for space on your macbook just upgrade the hdd? Its easy to do and the new drive will only cost <£110 for the 320Gig 7200rpm options.
 
Dislikes:

- My Powerbook G4 has a dead memory slot on it after upgrading it to OSX Tiger. It was a common issue that effected many Powerbook owners. Apple would fix it under warranty, but they only opened this up to a tiny serial number range... otherwise you had to shell out nearly £500 for a new logic board, which may actually have the problem reoccur. :/
 
Like: Apples' innovative, novel and forward thinking approach to IT, and marketing their products; Support/Sales peeps helpful (uk)

Dislike: UK prices compared to US prices; incompatibility issues with xp stuff; Apples 'tying' you in, e.g. itunes.

How are you intending to transfer the old drive contents out of curiosity?

I don't see how you're tied in. If you mean that when you buy an iPod, you (don't) have to use iTunes, then they're not the first MP3 hardware vendor to bundle it with software. It helps them deliver updates amongst other things.

The main thing I don't like is the Finder - lack of tabs and lack of ability to quickly show and hide all files gets on my nerves, but not enough to buy Pathfinder.
 
I bought a brand new Macbook Pro at the weekend, i've never used a Mac before properly, however I have watched many friends use them and have been jealous..

I totally and utterly love the thing, I use it for photography, and its just all over my PC, not in terms of speed, but more usability. The way it deals with multiple displays is brilliant. I can't ever see myself going back.

Kinda of what I meant.

I just don't like non drag n drop.

I also wonder about lay users who don't know how/are scared to/aren't prepared to step outside of itunes.
 
I hate the fact I can't afford one, because they are appealing more and more to me lately. Any tips for getting a cheap second hander? Preferably a lappy.

  • Blag HE discount.
  • Claim education discount for actually attending higher education.
  • Steal one (Snatch and dash works best)
  • Write Steve Jobs an emotional letter, and get a free one.

Bit of an exaggeration there, unless you have a source to back it up (all the Mac owners you know being idiotic elitists doesn't count). IME, Mac owners are mostly ex-PC owners who got Mac and love them so much more than PCs that they go a bit gay and think Mac is better.

I personally hate that pretty much all PC users have extreme hate for Macs and Mac users without having used the platform!

I can't use my experience but you can? HAHAHAHAHA!

I really like Apple products, and seriously considered a black mac book earlier this year but chose a different laptop because of a great special offer.

Or do what I did- get a refurb (made the wallet hit slightly more bearable)
