Apple / Meraki MDM and sync issues

Hi all,

Hoping for a bit of advice, I recently started a new job in IT support for primary schools, a lot of the schools have iPad charge and sync trolleys, but there also set up differently in each school I care for (took over them from different engineers) I have a few issues i'm struggling with, having no apple experience I hope you can shed some light for me:

1. 16 iPad2's in a sync and charge trolley all pick up the USB connection when plugged in to sync but configurator 2 will not pick any of them up at all, If they are being managed by Meraki will this prevent configurator 2 form identifying them and make changes to them? they also do not identify if plugged in directly to the Mac one at a time.

and

2. I have a new app to sync to 16 ipads, they are all picked up in configurator 2 and all have had restrictions removed, yet when I put the new app out either individually or by editing the existing blue print it returns an error stating that there are restrictions in place preventing the app / blue print being installed on the ipads connected. I have removed the restrictions so does anyone have any idea why it still thinks there in place?

Thanks very much

Rob

P.S Sorry for my spelling / grammar, I'm knackered at the mo!

Ok, so for 2, then if the iPads are managed by meraki then you publish the app to the meraki "App Store" you can then control which apps are on which iPads through the meraki console. You're probably hitting restrictions pushed down from meraki which will keep re-enforcing over the top.

As for 1, not sure but would think restrictions in meraki as you can be fairly restrictive from the MDM console. If you build settings in configurator I thin you can push them down with meraki.

I've some limited exposure to meraki as we use it in our retail environment though it's managed by a third party, but I had to do some testing with it for VPN setup so I've seen it used in anger :)
