Apple 'Spring Forward' Event 09/03/2015

Please. Who remembers when iTunes radio was announced and why there's still no UK release date.

My wife works for a large uk bank and is working on Apple Pay at the moment. Should hopefully be ready in April if all goes well with all the issues and concerns with data protection that the banking industry has.

I thought the new MacBooks were shipping today? Or are they just sold out?

The Macbooks are April 10th in USA (I imagine the same date or very close after for the UK). The updated Airs and MBPs (i.e. with new CPUs, SSD and trackpads) are shipping today, and in stock.

Beats Audio has got in the way of that.

Apple Pay won't be too long - the banks and card companies love it - it's just getting all the boring stuff behind the scenes worked out.

Core-M CPU are super low power, the winter counter parts with that chips could just about run the web browsers and straggled to do anything else, much rather a 13" Air with USB Type-C and retina display.

Apple watch is okay, but I would want at least the stainless steel model (Mostly for the sapphire glass) and that has a pretty high asking price. Could get a lovely look watch with a mechanical movement and sapphire and steel for cheaper.

Shame, love the form factor and due a swap on our lease Airs.

I guess it's like the first Air, making a massive shift towards portability, presumably they'll be able to release faster devices in future eating further into the Air, just as the Air did to the previous MacBook and 13" Pro.

Anyone got an Apple TV? Tempted to give it a go for that price

I own three so you can probably guess my opinion of them. :p

Great if you're heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem or want something to watch Netflix on. I just wish that it can BBC iPlayer.

So Apple appear to have reinvented the netbook... You'd think they would have learned after their first netbook (the original Air). When they upped the power and made it useable as an actual laptop it started selling a hell of a lot more.

(typed on a 2011 MBA). It's a shame as a 12" retina displayed MBA would have been right up my street, possibly what I'd have replaced my current Air with.

So now you have a thicker retina MBP, an almost the same power, thinner MBA with poorer screen or a netbook to choose from. Why can't they integrate them all and allow a 12-13" device the thickness of the Air with the option of 16GB RAM and a better display?

Thats just 1 example thou, a lot of the other Core-M units review shows similar subpar performance, and its too be expected these things only need 5W, normal phone chips can go up to 7W so its really amazing. But lets see what happens.

I personally think it will need a 1/2 gens more before the performance is up too scratch. Also having only 1 USB Type-C seems a little extreme, they should have had 2 really so you can charge and do something else without a £80 dongle for your already expensive laptop.

The gold colour is so cringe, not looking forward too seeing a sea full of gold Macbooks in the near future.
