Apple 'Spring Forward' Event 09/03/2015

The MacBook in gold looks horrible.

And they actually brought back the MacBook after "killing it" a few years ago. I always thought "MacBook" was a good name.

I always thought they'd eventually go back to just MacBook and MacBook Pro - the Air will probably get wound down as they can improve the specs of this new one, and the Pro will probably get a full redesign at some point in the near future to align it with the tech in the Macbook and perhaps also limit that to one size (seeing as this MB is 12" and the Air was 11"/13"). So we might see a 14" rMBP.

$549 starting price for the SS Watch.

LOL @ $10K CEO EDITION. There are people that will buy it though - scarcity and vanity purchasing by the rich ensure it.

$599-1049 for the stainless steel model! Bloody hell!

I think everyone was expecting the gold edition to be that expensive but wow at the stainless steel price.

Wait so they're keeping the MacBook Pro 13 inch around. I suspect this will be discontinued at some point?

And the MacBook Air Retina literally connects to...nothing?

Even if you had the money to throw away you'd be absolutely mental to spend £10k on that!

I didn't understand the part about them adding 2.5 times faster flash to the existing Macbook Air/Pro. Do they mean faster SSDs or RAM? Seems like a huge performance increase (if true!)

Also didn't understand the 599-1099 quote for the Stainless steel watch. The price depends on the bands, what could possibly be in teh band that would double the cost of the device, considering the base watch (the middle part) will be the same!

They are still selling the MacBook Air and Retina MacBook Pro.

There is no Macbook Air Retina - this new one is simply the Macbook.

It has a USB-C port which is a bit like a Thunderbolt port, look it up. It's meant to be a portable notebook not a mobile workstation like a rMBP.

There are watches FAR in excess of £10K which get sold. There are people who pay £800 for a t-shirt out there. The Edition watch is gold, is limited edition... people will snap them up, just not the hoi polloi like you and I.

They meant SSD. One of the advantages of not relying on a SATA interface!
