Yeah, sucks. I wouldn't mind an Air, but it needs to be retina. Looks highly likely that the waiting game will be continuing!

Thought about the basic rMBP at £820 after student discount.
Wouldn't mind a new model with Broadwell though.

For those who want to watch but don't have a Mac, iOS Device or Apple TV you can watch the live stream by:

Download VLC, the VideoLan media player, from the web.
Once downloaded, launch the app.
Navigate to the ‘Media’ tab and select ‘Open Network Stream ….
In the URL field, type (or copy) the following link. This is the direct location to the stream (which is the stream Apple TV uses internally): http://p.events-delivery.apple.com.edgesuite.net/1503ohibasdvoihbasfdv/m3u8/atv_mvp.m3u8

Press Play. The stream may appear broken until it is has started. Refresh the stream when the video has begun (at 5pm UK Time) and everything should work fine. You can watch the live video along with everyone else.
