Apple store broke my iPhone 4

might be the wrong thread to ask this given your experience but how much do Apple charge to fix dodgy home buttons? Mine's playing up something rotten and I can only think there's some dirt or something in there.

Back in August my iPhone 4 was a month out of warranty with the same issue your describing and I phoned up the apple store before hand and asked about the possibility of it being replaced free of charge and was told it was likely. When I went in store I mentioned that I had phoned up and was told it would be replaced out of warranty for free, and they honoured this as they didn't want to contradict what I was told on the phone.

Funnily enough the replacement was faulty and I had to get that replaced the following day, but they did this with no issue too. Have had 4 replacement iPhone 4's and each time they have dealt with me in an outstanding manner.

That's good cs!

Just as an aside I did a fix today that's worked in the short term at least. Hold the home button down and either blow very hard or use compressed air into the usb port. Must have dislodged a bit of dirt that was stuck in there.

I would hate to recieve a refurbished Phone.

Errrr why?

Having had a few replacements for 2G/3G/3GS the difference between new and what comes out of the cardboard box is nothing. Even the batteries were new in my 3GS (jailbreak apps show battery status).

As far as I'm concerned you get a new immaculate phone.

Indeed - apparently there's virtually no way to tell the difference other than that it doesn't come in a pretty box with accessories. Never had recourse to a refurb because my phone only ceased to be when I lost it!

I'm with the others - chance of upgrade 0.00001% (allowing for the lucky few who get away with it - 'out of stock' is about the only credible way it might happen).

Ended up getting my iPhone 4 replaced with a brand new iPhone 4. Which is pretty good considering I was actually out of warranty. Now have an extra 3 months warranty :)
