Apple store repair question..

Hi all,

basically put my MBP in on the 13th for screen defect with my local Apple store. It was having a warranty repair for the screen when I got a answer phone message on the 17th saying that it's delayed as they are waiting for the 'other part'.

After a further phone call I was told they were waiting for an AirPort card..

So Basically my question is that is this normal behaviour that they run diagnostics on the whole machine?

Just curious as I have never had any network issues with my machine?

Hopefully someone shed some light on this as being a sceptic I can't help but think they are just biding for more time! haha .. Cheers.

I had the LCD panel replaced in my MBP yesterday, and when I got it back the Airport card was not working.

Luckily, I took it straight back in and they started work on it immediately and 30 minutes later I had it back with a new Airport card.

Apparently there are some parts/connectors of the airport card integral to the display panel.

So it's quite possible the same issue occurred on your machine, and they're needing to replace the Airport card just like they did on mine.

I don't have a clue about Macs, but on some Dell laptops I've taken apart the WiFi & Bluetooth antennas run around the edge of the screen :). Guess it would help reception being up there rather than having the antenna under the keyboard with everything else.

Every time work put in a mac to the Apple store they always tried to change the logic board. I personally thought they were just trying it on.

Ahh I see, thanks for replies guys, hopefully I'll get it back tomorrow anyhow so I can quiz them at the genius bar! :)
