Apple Store to open in Donny?

The missus has just texted me, apparently there's the tell-tale logo on the boards covering the shop.

Not very far from the Meadowhall store. New shopping centre though, so it'll fit in.

Anyone from around Donny?

Yeah, there's one of them in Hull. Was doubtful over them choosing Donny... Not KRCS is it?

It's a company I can't remember and their website doesn't work. Doesn't bode well.

I think it's great - Apple stores in every major town by the next decade?

As a brand, an American model works really well. The stores [reseller or official] seem to give the malls an 'upmarket feeling' - and the more exposure to the Apple brand by the general public, the better. It makes software purchases, genius consultations and hardware RMA's so much easier... and for me the Genius bar and free, informed aftermarket advice is one of the major attractions for buying into the brand. Moving from my iMac to the PC, I really missed it...

Resellers offer a great experience, and often have more Apple 'fanboy' [no offence meant by the term, I use it as a compliment] staff then the official stores...I'm over in Cheshire, so I have Chester, Manchester and Liverpool - but best of luck to my Yorkshire friends! The more the merrier!

I've bought most of my macs through a reseller rather than Apple, generally get a better deal and the staff usually know what they are talking about more than the guys in the official stores.

So what's the deal with 'Premium Resellers' ? Are they just stores that have a certificate saying they're allowed to sell Apple gear, or are the better trained than your average shop muppet?

Yes and yes.

They don't have 'geniuses', which try to sell you everything. Instead, they have people that know what they're talking about.

I think it's all based on turnover, but in my experience the indies go a bit further to provide a bit of value add over a standard store.

I've spoken to Apple about becoming a reseller before and it's quite amusing they just keep talking about Apple Turnover.. makes you very hungry
