Apple takes ages to process orders

Ordered a macbook pro on the 30th, done apple finance, sent the appropriate stuff to them on the same day and now the order is still in 'review'.

Anyone else ordered from apple before directly, does it always take this long before the order is even dispatched?

I guess it's a combination of them having to approve the finance and also you must take into account that the post is still catching up after Christmas. They might not even have received your paperwork yet.

also doesnt the finance stuff go through barclays ? bank holidays wont of helped

plus the increased orders from people wanting to beat the vat man

Whenever i've ordered from Apple and paid directly the order has gone through fairly quickly, so the hold up is most likely the Finance.

Finance agreements can take up to a week to approve + the holidays and you're looking more like a month when you factor the delivery in too (if you customised the MBP).

You've picked two things which will slow your application down:

1. Finance
2. The time of year.

Either way any time i've ordered with Apple, even custom configs it's been reasonably quick.

I ordered a mac and I'm stil waiting for the finance agreement to come through. I don't know whether this is due to a redirect on an address that it may be being sent to or i have been declined.

Thing is, they don't ring you to tell you if you have been declined. From the few answers i gave the guy at Apple i'd say i'm a clear cut decline case if you look at just me, student and not much income but i live with a partner in a subsidised house that is paid for by my work. I hope i get approved or at least a call back to look into my situation more in depth. I have a clean credit history though and our household income is more than enough.

Reason i needed a new computer anyway was because my 4 year old MacBook Pro popped it's clogs. Luckily i took it apart and reflowed the solder on the graphics chip and it's working again! :D

Ordered y new 27" iMac on the 29th December through Finance, phoned Apple today who in turn phoned Barclays and they said they hadnt even received my Paperwork yet?

Your not alone on this one mate.

I ordered a MBA on the 21st Oct via finance and got an e-mail straight away with a secure link to the documents. Sent these the same day and the order was approved and despatched on the 25th and this was with a weekend in the way.

If they haven't got the paperwork now I would just send again.

My 27" Imac which was ordered second week of December has now been put back to the 2nd week of Feb delivery.
You could be waiting a while.

-edit-
Wasn't on finance.

As Feek said its pretty much all down to paperwork, something from when I did this 3 years ago I'm sure I recall a rep saying they fax the "OK" when the finance company receive your signed paperwork.

Ordered a Custom Spec 13" Macbook Air on the 23rd of Dec with Finance. It shipped on the 3rd of Jan and I received it on the 6th of Jan.

So, I called them yesterday, they said that the payment was approved and they'd already received it from barcleys, yet over 2 weeks later (8 of which have been working days) the order is still 'under review'.

I have NEVER seen any seller of anything online be so slow to send anything, ever.

It's literally beyond a joke.
They say it's easy to switch from windows to a mac, well not if I don't receive the product it isn't!

I bought my Macbook 13 in September on a Thursday AM at 08:30 on the Apple website. It was delivered the Friday afternoon, i.e. a day later. Paid on my plastic so no finance. Almost certainly down to time of year with Bank Holidays and VAT rise. Be patient, it'll come.

Must be due to the finance...

I bought a 27 inch iMac (top spec) before Xmas... Just missed the guaranteed delivaery deadline of the 20th and ordered on the 21st, but still had it delivered on the 23rd... :D (even though it was an estimated delivery date of the 4th of Jan)

Awesome service!!!

Yeah so after I called them on tuesday (they told me they'd received the finance which had been approved by barclays) they sent me an email asking me to send them the finance documents, what the hell?

So they tell me they've got the finance and it's all fine, then email me to ask for it?
Yeah good job, apple.

So I call them again today and complain, after an hour on the phone with an American guy or girl (I couldn't tell and didn't want to offend by asking) they got on the phone to barclays who said oh they'd JUST received the paperwork today, which is quite incredible since apple told me 2 days ago they'd already received the payment from barclays?

Now the estimated arrival date for the computer is the (seriously) 26th of Jan.
That's apparently because it's a 'custom' MBP, which it isn't, I just added a mini displayport to DVI adapter and they count that as a custom configuration, which is one of the stupidest things i've ever heard.

I could have flown to China and literally fashioned the computer by hand out of a solid piece of aluminium myself quicker than apple can deliver it.

I thought apple was meant to be simple, and 'just work'?
I've never had to call a company multiple times then wait a month for something before, i'm quite ticked off by this actually.
The laptop was ordered when it was to go out of the country with me, that's what I needed it for, but i'll be leaving a whole week before it arrives, hoorah!

~goes to sulk in the corner~ :(

you seem to be moaning over nothing IMO

financed things always take some time

if you want things quick you go to a shop and buy them on a card

To Be honest I would just cancel and wait for MBP with Sandbridge. It's only a matter of time now really. I would say in the next 4-6 weeks they will be out.

Unless you depend on the finance option.

Seriously?

Apple either screwed up with it (telling me they had it) or they lied, hence my second call to them.

Barcleys would have received the finance a day after I sent it to them, so in either case someones lying.
And the 'custom' config delay?
That is stupid.

Well the reason I don't want to wait, as I explained above is I needed it for traveling, maybe you're right thought, since I won't get it anyway.

Only thing is I don't know for sure when the sandybridge refresh will happen, or if they'll even put one on the 13" model, and doesn't sandybridge exclude them from putting in a descrite graphics card?

Rather have a core 2 duo and a semi decent gfx chip than a better (admittedly far better) cpu and intel graphics.

No, it doesn't work like that with Apple. They refresh products on their timescale, not because there's a new chip out. It'll get refreshed, but no one can say when. Could be weeks or months.

That said "Days Since Update 275 (Avg = 208)", so they are overdue, but don't bet on it.
