Apple to launch 3G iPhone on 26th Feb?

Found this on pocket lint site news feed, doubt it personally. Any thought's ?

Rumours of event emerge

NEWS: 8 February 2008 10:46 GMT - Back in October last year, Steve Jobs promised, via a post on the Apple website, that the company would release a software development kit for the iPhone and iPod touch.

"We plan to have an SDK in developers' hands in February" were the exact words as regards timescale, so rumours of an Apple event scheduled for late February are not surprising.

One Apple site reports that the company that does the television at Apple events is hiring for a big event later in the month, while two other blogs are talking up an event
scheduled for February 26th.

As well as the expected SDK, Penryn-based MacBook Pros with multi-touch trackpads have been hotly tipped to launch very soon, while a 3G iPhone is also rumoured after this week's news that AT&T are rolling out more 3G coverage in the States.

Please do happen :D

I want an iPhone but don't want to lose the 3g speeds I've currently got (and yes, I do use 3g in places where there's no Wi-Fi coverage!)

Same here, dont really care when they will release them but the fact they are finally releasing one makes me very happy. Using my ipod touch to access the internet at home has made me realise just how damn good the safari browser is.

Hopefully they will release it for the summer, ill be in Canada most probably and if they arent available there then ill be heading down to NYC to pick one up. Although 3G is slowly gaining popularity in Canada as well, think Rogers are unveiling their new 3g network soon.
 
Steve Jobs announced last year that there would be an 3G equipped iPhone in 2008 so it will definitely happen, I guess though it depends upon calendar year or fiscal year as to what he was referring too.

They may well announce the 3G-equipped version at WWDC, and ship it later in November (as they did with the UK iPhone).

Now that the UK & US phones are being revised at the same time (see: 16GB iPhone release) then I think it may go down this way, and perhaps even give China time to work out some plans while they wait ;)
