You know the blue square icon on the iPhone? Sometimes it has an "E" in the box, and other times the box is empty. Does that designate when its using GPRS instead of EDGE?

Yes, The big "E" represents EDGE reception, whereas the empty square is regular "GPRS" reception.

EDGE doesn't seem at all slow to me, where abouts are you located?

Nottingham, EDGE seems really slow, probs cause I have to use that if I am anywhere exept university library where the Wifi is blisteringly fast.
