Apple TV 2 Jailbroken

It's very easy, take a look at XBMC forums, most involve just searching the repository and clicking install.

The more complicated ones involve SSHing a file to your ATV and installing from ZIP.

I've never come across something I can't do, even if I need to spend a few minutes reading!
 
Yep, thats an absolute rip-off. If you have any problems there are a few of us on here with ATV2's jailbroken with quite a few add-ons though really once you have done one the others are simple.

As skully said, SSH'ing a file across is the hardest thing but done once and its easy :)

Do you know if the Apple TV 3 will get jailbroken soon because it has a slightly faster cpu and more ram for the same price as the Apple TV 2
 
It has an A5 processor and as such is much more difficult to jailbreak. No news yet but they think it might be possible. Will just take time to find the relevant exploit.
 
Would you say XBMC can be sluggish at times on apple tv 2? is there any reason for me to wait for that small performance boost?
 
http://seas0npass.co.cc/ says that there is a tethered jailbreak for ios 5 on the atv 3. I've only just been interested in these and would like to know if I can now go ahead and order an atv3 and jailbreak it or if this is a hoax.

I personally think it will be a long time til we see a jailbreak on the ATV3. As skully said it can be a little sluggish dependant on the skin but overall performs really well. You get a LOT of media streamer for your money

I don't really want to spend more than £100 and XBMC is a must for all the add-ons you can get (iplayer, itv, 40d and other streaming site) I also have a Macbook Pro, iPad and iPhone so it would probably be beneficial me opting for the apple tv. it just feels like a waste spending the same amount of money on last generations lol
 
You guys should consider a WDTV Live streamer for around £80 it's far superior to a Apple TV in that it can do more without the need to Jailbreak, it's an awesome bit of kit and kind of makes my ATV3 redundant!
