So it looks like Apple TV 4 is going to start shipping next week :D

While speaking at tonight's WSJDLive conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that the new Apple TV will begin shipping next week. Apple will begin taking orders for the new set-top box on Monday, October 26 with shipments beginning at the end of the week.

The new Apple TV, which Cook also said is the "foundation" for a new type of TV experience, features an A8 processor and either 32 or 64 GB of storage. It also has support for a full App Store, which Apple says will help "modernize" the "linear TV" experience that most consumers are familiar with. The new Apple TV also comes with the brand new Siri Remote, which allows users to use Siri to easily sort and find their favorite TV shows and movies.

The new fourth-generation Apple TV will be available for $149 with 32 GB of storage and $199 with 64 GB of storage.

Looking forward to this, my Samsung TV software is starting to get a bit slow and clunky, but don't really want to buy a new TV, as it is good enough in other aspects. Looking forward to buying this now different developers are able to get their apps on it, specifically Plex in my case.

Cannot wait :)

Will be replacing the two we have now as we use them all the time. The Siri integration has sold it for me alone

Yup mostly watch netflix via apple so will definitely buy this whenever it comes to Belgium

It'll all come down to the apps for me, if it offers Amazon Prime, NowTv, Netflix and ideally if it will allow Plex it'll be amazing. If it's possible to jail break and can have kodi added then it'll be like Christmas has come early.

Plex is definitely set to come out, the team is already working on a Plex app. That is by far the main selling point for me. I don't have Netflix yet, but I may look at getting an account for this, and hoping Amazon Prime app will come too. BBC iPlayer is reportedly getting tested for the new Apple TV at the moment, so I can see the rest of the TV companies doing the same.

Plex is definitely coming to the Apple TV. I'm hoping as well for an Amazon Video app, got a bit worried though when Amazon pulled out from selling the Apple TV completely online to concentrate only on its Fire products.

I'd really like the BBC iPlayer to come as well, however according to this article they have no plans to - http://www.macrumors.com/2015/10/20/bbc-iplayer-apple-tv-concept/
A group of coders have built this unofficial version in 9Hrs as a proof of concept to try and get the BBC to commit.

I'd really like to see all UK catchup services getting onboard with the Apple TV.

Looking forward to getting one as soon as I can though.

Well that'll teach me to read articles :p lol.

Either way, they already have an iOS version of iPlayer, so I can't see it being difficult to export and get it working on TvOS.

Awesome thanks! Ordered two of the 32GB

Shame the old ones are worth next nothing now, may as well keep them

I don't think you'll be able to pick them up from apple store Friday, from what I have seen so far seems to be online only at the minute.

Yeah you're right, just speaking with their chat team at the moment and they don't have a date for in store pickup yet, so just went ahead and ordered the 64Gb one now.

There's no storage as such on the Apple TV, everything is downloaded on demand. If you have a good enough internet connection then 64GB is overkill.

32Gb ordered. I can't see the need for 64Gb to be honest, unless of course there is some aspect we aren't aware of, as I can't see apps needing that much space. At least given the apps that will be useful on a TV.

A few media apps and maybe a game or two (though I doubt it personally) and you're done. I suppose time will tell as ever once we start seeing what developers do with the platform.

Same here ordered a 32 gb version, the only app that really interests me at present is Plex, but will be interesting to see what appears for the tv in the coming months.

Will order a second one after I have sold my Apple Tv 2 which is the jailbreakable model not the 1080p version.

Cheers all

Reason I went for 64Gb is for Plex for any possible offline syncing if I am going away and want a load of stuff to take with me and not have to rely on internet connections in hotels.

Any one else have an opinion if they (Apple) will bring HomeKit to the ATV4, thinking maybe within the next few years as it's been bounding around rumours that it'll be a home hub for extras with the HomeKit as an option.

Would be tempted to buy one if this would be adopted soon, like to add home automation to things as I already have Nest Thermostat and Protects. :)
