Apple TV.

Not quite sure what you're asking. It will play your divx HD episodes but it will also play the far superior transport stream versions (which clock in at about 3.8GB a piece).

Yes, but what I'm saying is unless you work for Sky One you can't obtain these copies.

Ahh for a minute i thought you were hinting at H264 stuff but yeah TS is good quality but uncompressed so easier to play which the H264 is nearly the same but a much lower filesize around 1.3gb per episode

If it was uncompressed, it would be a lot more than 3.8GB an episode (about 174GB) and it would be impossible to play on a standard hdd because the bitrate would be too high. ;)

Well that RAW format, I meant to say MPEG2-Transport streams aren't fully compress and hence easier to decompress. H264 is much higher hence even my htpc struggled with it

I get the feeling you're new to this type of thing.

I'm not exactly Zeus of the pirate underworld of illegal downloads, no.

Are you hinting you can get them though, or are you talking about a legal pay-for-view service like the TV shows you can buy on the US iTunes?

I'm not hinting, you can get them with ease; Prison Break, Smallville, 24 not to mention hundreds of films and other shows are readily available via non-legal means in HD exactly as they were broadcast.

There is nothing whatsoever decent available legally.

I've just had another look that Apple thing and what's the point? Is it only compatible with iTunes? iTunes doesn't exactly support HD video yet. It does look very nice indeed, but the iTunes thing is putting me off.

The best thing would be a wireless media player that can play ANY file of any format from any PC connected to the wireless network.

To be honest, these things aren't really worth it if you have your TV hooked directly to your PC via DVI.

I dont see why people hate iTunes so much tbh.
It used to be awful, but its quite good now. Prehaps its an iPod user thing.

I have been thinking about getting one of these and some homeplugs and setting up a nice little network, the only problem is that I will have to convert all of my TV/movies first as they are not in the quicktime format. Maybe I should just get a Pinnacle.

I think it's a good idea, but I don't like the fact that all videos have to be converted. I'm sure Apple will fix this in the future though.

Yeah converting them is a pain as it takes a long time, I did find a great free program for doing it though.
