Finally got an email saying that mine has been shipped today and that they've upgraded the postage at no extra charge. Hoorah.

I spoke to Apple and they said no chance of one for about a month, so I'll just see what the reviews say etc. and go from there.

Sorry to sound negative but surely its not a spot on the WDTV Live. I know the WDTV doesn't have wireless but everything else is can do surely makes up for it.

I've got no idea what a WDTV is. I've not got the new AppleTV, I have the old one and it does everything I want it to do perfectly *shrug*

Western Digital TV Media Player. Plays a fair amount of different file types. The original played from just a USB drive and now they've got the Live which has an ethernet port. Look it up. Cheaper than the Apple TV and play loads more file types. If the Apple TV did play for file types I'd probably get one but it doesn't so.... Its alright if you've got a library full of MP4's, MOV's, etc.

Mr TNT just delivered mine. Will have to wait till this evening to try it out.

Mines arrived, set up in 5mins. Jobs a good 'un.

Menus are fluid, plays everything nicely as expected. Only thing I had to do was disable IR control on my iMac cos the ATV remote was controlling all kinds of things on there :>

Im not a huge media whore, might get a few movies from time to time, It would be nice if LoveFilm got on board with this, but they have no plans at the moment.

Quite happy with it :>

Well i bought the last gen appletv this weekend, already added a few things so it can play dvd rips. Was great getting funny looks off the apple store for buying old gen, but im happy as it does what i want in a nice package. Hoping they will launch the app store for the new model soon too, that way vlc should be good on it...

was it a bargain?

I used to have the apple tv, but I was frustrated that I had to convert 1080p mks in order to get it to work, in the end I sold it and got a popcorn hour instead, played almost anything.

I went to the reopening of a big electronic store this weekend and the promotion they had on was 10% off everything. So I ordered an Apple TV for £89.99 and I was told I can pick it up on the 10/10/10, but I don’t believe that is going to happen  .
