Yeah think Iam gonna have to get a small NAS setup and schedule my downloads when iam at work or in bed partly due to my poor internet connection.

You can download to NAS' cant you?

Another thing I keep hearing about is the couch potatoe and sickbeard setup...another thing on the todo list!
 
Rats, I thought there was a torrent client for ATV2 but it appears that was for ATV1. Little more reading required.

It's annoying that ATV2 out of the box only streams movies through iTunes (MP4 etc) so having the JB XBMC option makes it the perfect device for iPhone and iPad owners.

Totally unnecessary IMO - you can install Air Video on your Mac which then acts as a server get the Air Video app for iPhone/iPad and watch media in any format either on those devices or port them through to ATV2. I considered JB then found this neat solution instead.

If you do want to stream stuff through iTunes you can just use handbrake to convert them.

You can also get an app called Dropfolders that watches selected folders for files and converts them straight away, meaning once your downloads are complete they can be converted as well.

Only for iTunes purists ofc but another option to consider =]
