See I think they would maybe release a console. Either way EA can make or break a console (dreamcast) so that would be massive. Plus a futher blow to pc gaming as its being restricted by the current console gen and games having to be multi platform

Just to follow this up: El Reg have a story about this in which they say that, while anything is feasible where Jobs is concerned, there's no substance to this rumour and it was basically made up by a blogger:

I could see Apple establishing ties with a few big games publishers and moving into the console market.

However, I'm not sure they could afford to buy EA outright, and they certainly couldn't afford Sony. I'm pretty sure that EA wouldn't go and establish an exclusive tie with Apple either, ultimately it would cut down on their profit margin.

It says in the article, Sony is worth about $40 billion, Apple have $50 billion waiting to get used.
