So on the 20th April, I placed my order at the Apple Store UK Online. £1709 it cost me. I made a modification to my configuration which meant it would take 3 days before it would be shipped. It was actually shipped one day eariler then expected - and I was given a delivery date of 2nd May (would have been 1st May if it had not bee bank holiday). Given that TNT tracking said that it was coming all the way from Shanghai in China, I thought it was probably acceptable to take nearly 2 weeks to deliver my new, expensive computer.

I didn't think any thing of it... that is until this morning when I recieved a package through the normal post for a pair of earphones that I ordered for my iPod through e-bay. These too have come from China, except Hong Kong rather then Shanghai. These were despatched on the 25th April, a full day earlier than my Macbook was despatched.

Looking at my TNT Tracking, it took a FULL three days to get from Shanghai to Arnhem in Amsterdam, and has been sitting in Amsterdam for the past 24hours.

So my question really is - how can a pair of Earphones that cost me 30 pounds, be shipped to me in 5 days, and it take nearly 2 weeks for a huge company to send me a 1.7k laptop. I would have thought Apple would have used some supberb express fast light speed courier.

I'm a little confused here.
Is this a wind up?
Apple give you a delivery date of May 2nd and according to my PC its April 29th.
Shouldn't you be posting this on May 3rd?

The point I am trying to make is that why does it take so long for them to deliver a 1700quid computer, and yet I ordered a pair of headphones off some one on Ebay (who is not a company) and recieve them before my computer. Yes they are sticking to delivery date - I just do not understand the reason why it should take this long.

This is the info from the TNT Tracking page.

29 Apr 2006 19:59 Northampton Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point
28 Apr 2006 18:59 Arnhem Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point
28 Apr 2006 11:05 Amsterdam Consignment Received At Transit Point
25 Apr 2006 12:00 Pudong International Airport Potential Connection Delay
25 Apr 2006 10:25 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot
24 Apr 2006 10:03 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point

It stayed in Shanghai for 3 days doing sweet FA. It only appears to actually have had a steady flow of movement as of Yesterday.

If it arrives on Tuesday , it was a shade under 2 weeks for it to be delivered. I just think its bizarre for a high profile company such as Apple to have such long delivery times for their top of the line products.

Also,

Let me ask this question :-

If something goes wrong with my Macbook - does it have to be returned to Shanghai? Or is it a place in Ireland that deals with repairs? See this long delivery time has made me think that if something does go **** up with it - and it takes 2 weeks do a one way trip - to do a trip of there, repair and back - you're talkin a month?

Or am I wrong?

LOL . The headphones were ordered and shipped after the laptop had shipped. Im complaining THAT much. I just dont get why it takes so long. Stop ganging up on me anyway. I might start booing my booerbauer eyes out :p
