Anyone know of an app that will close applications in the background on Android without you having to agree to allow it to send data to third party's IE screenshots etc?

That's one thing I hate about android is not actually been able to fully close an app...it's always running in the background.

It leads to them eventually playing up and you having to either dig deep and clear that specific applications cache or re-instal for them to behave as they should.

You can force stop most apps from the settings in most implementations of Android, unless you need to dig into system processes, etc. swiping off from the recent apps screen also tends to shutdown most apps rather than just push them into the background.

Android isn't designed to close apps when you leave them (unless you open recent and close them manually). If your apps are becoming corrupted or crashing often and require cache clearing or reinstalls to resolve, this is not an Android app sleep problem. Have you factory reset your phone?

This can actually do more harm than good, especially if the app expects to sync in the background every now and then. It'll just cause the app to wake the phone up again just to set everything up again, potentially reducing battery life instead.

What offending apps do you have that you feel should stay off? I remember using Greenify years ago but that requires root, no idea if it's still a thing these days. Depending on which phone you have, you can just do the steps here in reverse if it already has a built in aggressive RAM/battery management: https://dontkillmyapp.com

On my phone you can set some useful background options. 1, The usual lock these apps / prevent closure. 2, Background auto start. Then in dev options (but I wouldn't recommend changing) 3, Background Process Limit. 4, Suspend execution for cached apps.

But I just get into the habit of swiping apps away when I'm done. I have 3 locked apps running and that's it (and 15 apps can auto start in the background). Pretty simple.
