Yo people

When i save a file in Photoshop (CS2) and choose a filetype it doesnt add the extension onto the end, so the file is just saved without an extension. Any ideas, as its well annoying when saving lots of images back to back as keep forgetting.

Also doing this with other applications as well.

Its only started happening since I reinstalled windows. Anyone have any idea? Am using a stripped / tweaked slipstreamed version using my cd key, so its obviously something been tweaked different from default.

Cheers in advance

Go into one of your drives

At the top where it says tools click on it - click folder options - then view tab - Scroll down till you see *Hide extentions for known file types*

If this is ticked then untick it - click Apply then ok.

thats already unticked, its 1st thing i do when i reinstall windows

i mean when I goto 'save as' a file, say it says filename.psd in there as default

so i'd change the filetype too a gif or wotever, and in the filename box the extension should update right? it doesnt, it just stays as whatever it was previously

this results in a gif trying to open itself as a PSD, or in some cases a file just without an extension or whatever

get me now? never had this happen b4, am very

Sounds like something in the registry is fubared to me, especially if it only happened after you reinstalled Windows.

Any chance you could try the non-slipstreamed version of Windows?

i could try it, but I know that would work (as it has 100's of times in the past :p), more interested in getting this current version working, as pretty pointless doing a whole reinstall just for this one thing

anyone know, or know where would be a good place to find out?

anyone? this is really bugging me :p

i agree its prob a registry thing, but no idea where to look

Neither do I unfortunatly, you'd need one of our members more experienced in editing the registry to post, i'd hate you to screw it up by fiddling around in there. :)

lol, def not going to fiddle to fix this

anyone have any ideas though? as its really bugging me now
