What do you think of the graphics card

1) £1300 for a generation old graphics card-based PC - and SLi at that? Don't bother. Especially given just how incompetent nV are with their drivers at the moment - especially SLi-wise

2) would you actually use the quad core, or are you just impressed that you'd have more cores?

3) how can any new PC that comes with dual drives not have both of them as writers? They only cost £17 :S

4) where are these 10,000rpm 160gb drives coming from, as the only 10,000rpm SATA drives I know of are 150gb. Just be wary - it's a little thing with little consequences if the rest is fine, but it's a general sign that the guy doesn't really know his stuff

5) because of the above it probably has a Q-tec PSU :P

Thats a forum post, it's no more valid them a post here.....

However to point something out my 74gb raptor shows in windows as 69.2gb, so its the other way round..... not what they say in that forum post you linked to....

Same as my 250gb drive is shown as 232gb.... the spec you see on websites is the larger number, where as for real world use you see the smaller number.

So you have your figures wrong mate... ;) .... don't trust one forum over another, as neither are more valid then the other....

And, shock horror, the only links in that thread are 1) dead now, and 2) a manual search only brings about drives of 36, 74gb and 150gb.

Shockingly, the only references I can find after a quick Goodle point to a Dell rebadged Raptor which formats to the... same as the WD one. Wouldn't be a surprise, as Dell falsely advertised the 74gb Raptor as an 80gb one previously.

doesnt it just show 512mb of ram.. you dont gain memory from sli iirc

Correct, the vram is mirrored.

The proper SI unit for the MB is 10^6 bytes and that is what hdd manufactures use, if dell decided there are 1024MB in a GB then the capacity would be less than 150GB not more than 150GB, they must be counting less than 1000MB in a GB! Unless WD are the only hardware manufacturer that doesn't use the proper SI unit, I think thats unlikely though as they would be selling themselves short. Of course there may actually be a 160GB drive. :p
