Arc Raiders

Just had my first real pvp outing, im level 31 just chilling fighting arc and doing quests upgrading workshop.
Got attacked only 3 times in 31 levels previously playing solo and being a good boy :)

Just extracted there from Blue gate , was on the way to do a quest and spotted one of those masts that call in supply drop and i was shot at from behind and almost killed.
I dived behine some rocks and managed to regen, when i poke head out my supply drop is being looted by a guy who came from shots direction so i said fcuk it ill kill him which i did, then i was shot behind again rinse repeat killed him too but which one was the real shooter?
I was convinced this one was the culprit so I asked him "why shoot me" he said "because you shot that other guy" .

Off i went to my quest location and spotted a guy zip-lining down from a tower at the exact direction i was shot from - he looked like he had a long ranged weapon which made sense considering the shots and elevation i thought they came from.
He didnt see me but i noticed he was heading to extraction point that i could see other players waiting to extract and took some potshots this was the point i knew this was the guy i wanted all along and the other two guys might have been innocent.

I decided to try out the renegade i think its called that i looted from the second guy and i downed him from long range with 4 shots and wow it felt good but also bad.

Im 80% sure this was the guy who started it off from his lofty perch.
Or was it?
Maybe he was innocent and one of the other two were guilty?
So many questions but all shots on me came from that direction where all three were.
I do feel bad because no doubt some of these guys were innocent but ill never know which one , this is what makes the game very special and yes im a pve guy :)

Lol, always the way.

When the round is over you can see where you took dmg and who from.

I think if you press tab you can see player interactions. So who shot you and where, and who you shot and where.

That's how I used to always find out the guy who shot me got away with it, while some random paid the price.

It also lets you make a note of their names. Why bother you ask? Because when they talk their name pops up, so if you see a hostile name you recognise in voice chat, and they're pouring honey in your ears, don't trust them!

Too many rats talk the talk, but don't walk the walk.

Edit - Tab will show player interactions, but if you hover over the red dmg icons on the map that show when you took dmg you'll see where the dmg came from. Also where you dealt dmg, found loot etc.

Complete the missions for Celeste. Once you've done the flag one, the hullcracker BP one from TW will unlock as a mission.
I have it now thanks. it's superb.

I just did half a dozen runs with a mate. other than a few PvP pot shots nothing troubled up so on my final run I equipped my insanely expensive weapon for the 1st time (not sure of the name but it is a level 4 blue one using medium ammo with 4 augments worth almost 40k if I sold it
along with my hull cracker

and within 5 mins was dead to a leaper which caught us out in the open

Forgive an old man, I had this recently when I purchased my 5070Ti, at the time I was focussed on BF6 with the boys, we've all been dropping off more and more, so I'm looking for something new.

I'm not a huge gamer a few nights a week for a hour or two maybe, but what has peaked my interest in this is more the social side of it. Seems to be more focussed on voice comms and team play (when it's not PVP)

It's a bit of a long thread so it's a bit of a TLDR post but I do have a few questions

1. Is it suitable for a more casual gamer?
2. Can you have fun with only a few hours play a week (6-8)
3. If there an OCUK discord / community for the game
4. From videos PvP does seem common place, as a new player coming in, will i be at a heavy disadvantage against experienced players?

Sorry for so many questions

I can answer 1 and 2, yea i would consider myself a casual gamer and find it great so far for jumping into, a raid can last for around 15 to 40 minutes usually, find it great if you want a quick blast for an hour or so

Im an old fart too and im m 40 hours in at lvl 31 and only got attacked 3 times while playing solo.
Solo mode feels like pve mode to be honest.

1.Yes definitely
2.Yes definitely

4.As i said above play as solo and also with crossplay off you will find most players to be friendly just going about doing their quests.

Like you i got bored of BF6 and wanted something new - jump in its great.

1. Yes, absolutely
2. as above
3. I'm sure I read that there is.
4. No more than any other game. Its quick to pick up.

One thing to consider is that while there skill based matchmaking, there is also behaviour based matchmaking.
Meaning that if your preference is to do PvE and have less conflict with players, you'll be matched with players with a similar mindset more often.
On the other hand if you play like a murder hobo you can expect to be in the PvP heavy lobbies more often.

Unless I've yet to find the Blueprints, the following are all non craft-able items that are needed for crafting (and quests / upgrades, but that list is longer and they aren't all used for crafting).

Magnets
Wires
Duct tape
Batteries
Oil
Canister
Great Mullien

But you can buy all of them from Celeste if you have seeds to trade in (limited to 10 a day of each of these).

You can usually find batteries in computer monitors as well if you don't have the seeds. Honestly, unless you are looking for them wires and batteries are really common

Alternatively there are items you can recycle that will give you batteries or wires. If you inspect the items in your stash it will tell you what they recycle into.

BF1942 gamer here, and after Fortnite in 2017/18 (amazing!), Arc Raiders is a revelation: excellent!

The subterfuge, urgency to escape, a capable enemy (Arc) and the demand to continue scavenging. What a great concept. Loving this!

I am a diehard BF fan, and really bought in to the "new" BF6 - which is very enjoyable - but this is now my daily addiction. Well done Embark!

Starting to get a little more confident about tackling larger Arc now - have taken a few out (Leapers are fun, Rocketeers are annoying), but seeming to struggle on every map except Buried City.

Slowly grabbing the things I need to upgrade my workshop, but I really ought to grab a free load out or six and explore the bigger maps, if only to use the few key cards I've found.

I was the same, except Spaceport was my map of choice.

It took me ages to stop doing runs there and actually start exploring the other maps properly. I'm still finding new routes, getting lost, seeing new variations on map themes (saw a sunset style i've never seen before on Buried City today) and whatnot and I have hundreds of hours in the game.

Speaking of Spaceport! It is also fantastic for wires and batteries when you get access to it @Subzero85 just head to the launch towers.
Where you will also find, hands down, the best zip line and "safe" freefall in the game right now. Just keep the zipline nearby when you fall, don't hit the edges, and make sure to grab it before you hit the bottom :D

Its still my map of choice.... don't judge me

I salute you sir, as a fellow 1942 veteran.

Bought this game in the recent Xmas sales and played a few raids.

Can't tell what all the fuss is about?

Not a bad game but hardly seems worthy of all the fuss it's been getting?
