Arc Raiders

Unlike traditional extraction shooters, they dont have seasonal wipes, instead once you reach lvl 20 you can opt to do a voluntary wipe (by constructing a launch vehicle) where you effectively reset your character, lose all your stashed stuff etc and in exchange for volunteering to "wipe", you get boosts on your "next" character, like faster XP gain, better Rooster loot, larger stash etc, this gives a quick explanation of it

Sorry i'm behind the times here, so you can only get 20 skill points to go into the tree? One for each level? There's loads more slots than that!! Or am I getting that wrong?

Level cap is 75. You can start working on the expedition at level 20.

You cannot get enough skill points to complete every tree so you should plan ahead as you can only complete about half of them and the 36 point investment lock on the last two major skills in each tree means you can onyl get the last set of major skills in 2/3 trees.

I'm not sure if I'm totally excited about the prestige system.
I vastly prefer it over a mandatory wipe, in my experiences there is always a reduction in player numbers after a wipe as each time you lose a portion of the playerbase who just cant be bothered to do it all again. In theory, this way you shouldnt see that dropoff.

Am doing the expedition aswell page 4 at the moment.. we have till to December complete it tho.

You can only wipe your char between a 7 day period if u dont you have to wait another 2 months
Yeah Stage 4 is the one I'm on too, getting the 3 Leaper cells is the sticking block :D

I'm new to extraction shooters - apart from some DMZ and yeah that would have really put me off as I have a family that takes up a lot of time, so I just can't put in as many hours these days.

Arc Raiders is added to my basket with an Asus 5080. Will o still recieve this if i check out or is the offer over?

Also just wondering, im looking to upgrade from my 3090 Suprim X. Which 5080 is ranked decent for the money without overspending?
I do have icue lighying in my system thats a bonus, but usually turn lights off, so not a must?

If the code is still given then you have until December to redeem it.

I went from a 3090 Suprim X to a 5080 Suprim and it's been an absolute game changer. It runs literally 20c cooler too which I still can't quite get my head around (54-56c maxed out). Probably not good 'value' but certainly worth the upgrade.

Just did a solo run using to use a blue gate confiscation room key. Nearly died on the way there twice and ran out of shield regens with it on 40%. Got quite the haul including a Renegade battle rifle. Was really lucky when looting as someone came up behind me and said don't shoot, he could have just taken me out and taken all the good stuff. Lots of ARC dodging on the way to the extraction, took a blue key with me to make it a bit safer. Such an enjoyable game.

Had some brutal games today. Lots of dying. No friendlies in solos. One bloke backstabbed me.

Managed 2 blue prints and a few guns off kills including an osprey.

I , thankfully, havent had anyone backstab me yet. In fact, it massively surprises me that it doesnt happen really often, I kind of truly expect loads of people to say "dont shoot" etc, until you have turned your back and then blast you. Maybe I am too cynical about human nature :D

Ive had it about 6 times. One guy waited till i was calling the evac then knocked me out. I now always let the other guy call it. I saved one guy from a load of drones, ran in a building with him to heal up and then he ganks me. Ive had a few who ganked me while looting too.

I've been spectacularly lucky, 52 hours played now and I've yet to have anyone do that. I mean I've been killed of course, just never yet via betrayal.

Were you using a free kit / level 1 guns? They are pretty weak vs the flying arc, except for the Ferro (I don't think you get an Anvil in the free kits?). The key with the Wasps and the Hornets is to shoot the thrusters, not the body. The Ferro can two shot a Wasp (white drone with 4 thrusters and a mounted machine gun) by shooting two thrusters - it'll lose stability and crash. The Hornets (bigger than a Wasp, armoured, and shoots an electrical tazer type thing) can also be two shot if you shoot the two rear thrusters off. Most of the time it'll be facing you so that will be difficult, and with a Ferro it'll take at least 4 shots as you'll need to knock the armor off the front thrusters first. Medium and Light ammo penetrates ARC armor less, so Hornets will be much harder to take down with the low end / free guns if its not the Ferro.

When you're starting out and getting a few quests done your best bet is to avoid them as much as you can and pick your engagements when you have quests that require killing them.

Wasps are far more dangerous than the Hornets. The Hornet you can just roll or sidestep out of the way of the tazer.

If you see the big flying thing called a Rocketeer, avoid at all costs early on and get into a building if it does spot you.

You can ping (middle mouse button) ARC to find out what they're called if you're not sure.

Thanks this is really helpful. I played for ~4 hours this evening with a squad and had a lot of fun! It's really great as a "just one more run" game and even if you lose your stuff it's not a huge deal, at least early on - although most of the time i opt for the 'free' kit and hope for the best. Starting to understand the crafting mechanicis a bit more along with the general gameplay loops. Plenty of things to keep me interested and coming back for more.

The Arc are varied and clever for NPC opponents. I've had them follow me into buildings, flank me, call backup, etc. The way they hide their weak points and try to recover if you blow off their thrusters is great. It'd be good to see more land-based ones in future updates.

It is so refreshing to have some reasonably intelligent enemies but with what feels like a pretty fair chance to beat them. It's struck a good balance of difficulty so far.

PvP is less consistent. Have been killed quite a few times by clearly better squads, but that's all part of the fun. It is quite hard to get healed / recharge shields during a fight yet my enemies seem to be able to do it. Or they have better equipment I guess.

Yet to find any "friendly" raiders and only heard prox chat once, which is a shame.

Try to avoid the arc in most cases. But if you do need to take any down you need to aim at certain parts depending on which robot it is. Get their weak points and you should be fine but avoid getting into a fight with a swarm of them as you'll likely die; in this case run inside!

Anyone else impressed by the ai of the arc? They are quite scary in how they hunt you and find any opening to try and kill you. If you run into a building it'll try and find you inside but if it can't it'll go round to other entrances or openings to try and find you. I haven't really been able to cheese anything due to dumb ai.

As above, really fun to fight against. Difficult, but fair. The first time I saw a Bastion was exciting. Decided it wasn't something to try and fight, yet. Clearly the noise of it had attracted other players. Me and my squad got rinsed by another squad as we ran into a nearby building for cover.

10/10 will be playing again!

The graphics are great too and it seems to run extremely well on my machine.

There does seem to be some issues with the prox chat, sometimes it simply doesnt work at all. In fact that even extends into the in party chat, we've had many times where one or more or all of us cannot hear or speak in the party chat. Its become the case now that we've started using discord for chat, which is a shame. Hopefully they will sort it out soon.

Be careful of this as the codes could be "while stock lasts" and you may not get it if you wait too long and they run out (then the site not updated)

2 wolfpacks and they're done, just need to make sure you deal with all the surrounding drones first and try aim the grenade above where the leaper is (does 166 dmg x 12 :D)

Was going to say use Discord.

When playing Helldivers 2 with a friend we use Discord rather than the in game system
