Arc Raiders

I learned today that the arc can see through smoke.

Was fighting a 3 on 3 and we were winning the other team were backing off but the whole time we were getting hounded by a rocketeer, bot teams really. Anyway, my mate gets knocked but the other team had basically retreated by then, I throw 2 smoke at my mate, run out of cover to res, completely in smoke and the rocketeer nails me with it's first shot.
I think they can see through most things if they're aware of, or searching for you.
Trees, bushes, smoke etc.

They can be pretty oblivious, especially the rocketeer, but once they've got you only decent walls and a roof are cover.

You’re doing it wrong.

Yep. Remember the future war sequence in the first terminator when the soldiers had to hide from the machines and act stealthily to take them out? This is the same.

I got taken out by two drones this evening because I got caught in the open with no cover, even though I had a decent loadout. My fault.

Keep your eyes and ears open for drones. Head to cover if you spot one. Don't engage out in the open.

So gave it a go there.

Bloody hell I'm hopeless. I'm not entirely sure what I'm meant to be doing. First run if you will, I walked forward towards something that was 300m away. Heard someone say 'hey don't shoot' then bang shot in the back dead.

Second run, I somehow ended up not having any ammo? Anyway thought, I'll just wonder around see what I see drone follows me and kills me quickly as I couldn't out run it or hide anyplace.

Third game, I didn't have any guns or anything so had to do a random load. Got a little pistol. Landed 4 drones around me and blast the hell out of me within 20 seconds.

Closed it down. Might be going for the refund on steam.:rolleyes:
For the first round there, trust no-one, always assume a person will shoot, if they dont its then a pleasant surprise.

For the second round there, did you put ammo in your loadout? I've never had it give me a weapon but no ammo.

For the 3rd round there, yes drones, especially early on, are tough ! Avoid being spotted by them/hide in bushes etc til they go away, until you have a handle on things.

Key thing here is that its not a run and gun game, you cant just go running around all over the place, you have to put some thought into your movements, be quiet, keep to cover where possible, dont loiter in a map longer than you have to, exit as soon as reasonably possible rather than hanging around for another 15 minutes because the longer you are in the more time there is to get caught out. At least in the early stages whilst still learning the game.

Yup I've died once today to drones as well.
Thats one of the things I like about the game, in many pvpve games the E is just an annoyance rather than an actual threat, but here, even though I've over 100 hours played, I can still find myself getting caught out by a drone from time to time, usually when I've over-extended myself or gotten careless

I just got stuck on the scenery and got nailed by a turret. So annoying.

Team mates had died in a firefight. I survived being sniped then set upon by leaped and rocketeer.

I've noticed that proximity chat is really quiet for me, even though I boosted it up to 200%?? in the settings. Whenever anyone talks to me they seem really quiet but people can hear me fine.
(I know I'm over 50, but I'm not that deaf yet) :D

So frustrating, trying to do harvester on my own and not having a lot of luck. First time I got in with some randoms, got a blueprint and got gibbed by the queen as I tried to sneak out. Died on the way a second time. 3rd time was just me, got all the bottom yellow things knocked out and moved onto the top, flames came so I went out a vent and a rocketeer saw me and nuked me. 4th time another rocketeer chased me and I jumped into the big round thing and missed the ledge so fell to my death lol. I shall keep trying but with free gear from now on.

If you're doing harvester take looting mk 2 augments, 2 safe slots. Make sure blueprints go in there. Then it doesn't matter if you die, just make sure the BPs go in the safe pockets when you loot.

Bushes act as cover for arc, at least if they're neutral or searching, (blue or orange lights) once they turn red and have you locked you need to break LOS with hard cover for a good while.

I've had orange rocketeers literally hovering 6ft above me while I cower in a bush, so close you can't hear jack over their rocket engines.

Have they nerfed Wolfpacks secretly? Twice tonight we hit a Rocketeer with one, nothing else around, and it still took a lot of firepower to down!

I dont think so, unless it was literally last night. The wolfpacks are very variable because the projectiles they spawn are real, they hit different parts of the enemy sometimes weakspots, sometimes not. It can leave rocketeers and leapers with a lot of health left still, or can 1 shot them. Especially because the damage system is not linear. It's not like 1 health bar for an enemy, each part has its own health independent of the rest, and there's some basic rules for what parts an Arc can lose before it dies.

Simplest example is with the wasps, the body can take loads of damage, it will die if it loses 2 rotors. But damage to the body doesn't drain the rotors health, they are all separate health pools. Anything with armour like hornets and rocketeers have to lose their armour pieces first. Wolfpacks are an unpredictable they often spread out damage over multiple parts which is bad.

I've sat in bushes and non-agro'd arc have spotted me. Blue light.

This is in the swamp, so the bush cover was complete and extended well beyond anywhere near my character boundary. Not at all partial.
I took the time to test it because it felt so backwards that I got spotted in them the first time.
Crouching, not moving, not damaged etc.

Happened multiple times, to the point I'm confident that bushes don't provide that cover.

It's possible some don't, either the bushes are placed without a corresponding volume that marks you as in cover, or the bushes need to be of a certain size/type. The maps are buggy and have a decent amount of problems that need tidying up still. I reliably use this to evade Arc, so I know it works, but I don't discount there being places where it doesn't.

That's fair, it is possible that I've only ever used bugged locations.

Nice one, i’ll give it another go.

Turning cross play off seems to work, only had 1 instance of cowards hiding behind stuff watching me kill a rocketeer & then come out and kill me. What they didn't realise is apart from my guns everything valuable was in my 3 safe pockets :D

I set foliage to low and tried hiding in a bush on The Blue Gate and I was able to hide and evade the arc, so it was definitely an issue with the particular bushes I was using before.

You were right. Good to know. Going to keep foliage on low in case it matters.

Managed to get my 12 mushrooms this morning.

Well combination of this morning and yesterday.

You have to be get lucky with your starting spawn location and be fast to get the spaceport ones.

Last night I got there as two other people clearly doing the same thing arrived, they were all friendly though. If you don't spawn on one of the locations close forget it, they'll be gone.

Also the ones on Dam are usually gone fast.

Also one guy bloody camping the Spaceport spot this morning, he hit me with a ferro at range, but I healed and hit him back with the same, was still at range, I flanked but couldn't obviously see him, so in the end I just backed off. No mushrooms though :(

Anyway glad that's done with.

I need the apricots still but I have the comfy pillows, the apricots are much easier to get anyway I'm not worried.

Tried a couple lemon runs on buried city which did not end well. Both times had a friendly raider early where we say hi and go separate ways then a 2nd who was just a shoot on sight type.

The 2nd encounter was hilarious to me though. We were both on rooftops after he downed me he jumped/fell off the roof and must have been low health as his little flare fired as he hit the ground!

Blue gate is much easier for lemons in my experience, olive grove I think it's called you can get apricots/olives & lemons all from there.
