Arc Raiders

I understand people not being overly keen on the PvP element but I do think it's really important to have that in this sort of game. Extraction shooters with only PvE are essentially a single player game at that point, you'd be better off playing Helldivers or something similar - whereas with PvP having an impact you always have that balance.

It's also totally possible to just ignore players in this game, you can hug the outskirts, put points into stamina and equip things like smoke grenades and just 'nope' out of every PvP engagement. We ran into a few teams last night that would be doing exactly that.
Game reminds me of helldivers 2 with the movement etc.
Reminded me of a lot of Star Wars Battlefront 2! Which makes sense considering Embark is full of a lot of ex-Dice developers (and it's very telling in The Finals with how much destruction plays a factor in that game).

I would love to see more games like the division, it handled the pve and pvp very well with the way you could enter the dark zone to scratch the pvp itch.

Played a few more rounds and it has grown on me, I very much dislike people who just camp extraction lifts though....

Yeah the DZ in DIV1 nailed it, i never liked pvp/pvpve before I played that. It was a total blast for me.

Yes, already getting annoyed at people who do this. We ran into a group doing it yesterday and after we downed them they were all on prox chat asking for us to let them extract.

For all you lucky rtx owners, make sure to enable rtx HDR for some lovely HDR action
Agree, must say that I really do like the aesthetics in the game and the sound fx. Some things do annoy me, like for 1, I just want a button to throw a grenade. Just let me press G or something and it will automatically chuck a grenade, rather than me having to select grenade and then another press of something to throw it. Also, I wish that once I had searched something the "Search" tooltip on the container stopped showing on the screen. I am also enjoying the higher TTK in this compared to in many games of the genre, does mean that there is the chance to turn a fight around, or escape it altogether, rather than a fight being over in a split second. I also really like that you can craft during a match, helps a lot when you run out of bandages or shield chargers etc that you can craft more even whilst in a map.

Overall I would say its pretty good, some good potential here. I dont know if they will have regular "seasonal" wipes like many of these extraction shooters do. I hope not as that would put me off, I understand the reasons why extraction games have regular wipes but the trouble is that in my experience the population of these games always diminishes each time there is a wipe as a portion of players dont come back because of having to start all over again.

The trouble with the PVP side, is you will get the sweats. That can play every waking hour, to max level. Then the casual players, will just get ganked all the time. So then the casual players will give up. Or not even buy the game. A big market missed.

I guess theres a lot they can implement to prevent that though, limiting the matches to level brackets (like Lvl 1-5 , 5-10 and so on) or by gear item brackets (like only white items, only green items, only blue items etc) and then have non-limited matches as an option for those who dont want to play peer-tied matches. They probably wont because not many of the genre offer those choices, but it *could* be done :)

Missed this totally until I stumbled across a stream this morning. Looks really good I must say. I don't suppose anyone has a key so I could have a blast for the last few hours ?

Overall enjoyed the experience, even when playing as Solo.

Only negative I came across was extraction point camping, which essentially is a player letting others go loot and they take their chance in killing them when they extract. I got done by it a couple of times, but it's the nature of the beast and a valid tactic, but doesn't make it any less annoying. :D

I must have actually been very luck with this, didnt experience any extraction camping at all, or if I did they must have missed me :)

Yeah, I probably got unlucky, but I'm not much of a PvP'er these days and this game, if it had a good PvE mode alongside the PvPvE, would be cool and appeal to more players I suspect.

Why oh why could they not provide PVE choice..... Game is good fun but as usual, these games just end up the same way with the pvp element, same as every other battle royale/extraction shooter

It was originally announced as a PVE co-op shooter but they jumped on the bandwagon and changed it to PvPvE extraction shooter in 2023.

Since then, even Tarkov has added a co-op/PVE only option, and I'm sure Arc Raiders will lose out on some players with their decision :(

Plenty of time yet though, the game isnt out yet and with the way the game is designed, as with Tarkov, it would be a very simple thing to add a PvE mode. Who knows maybe one will be added before release.

I would argue that SPT mod is a much better experience than base tarkov and its pve only with easily the best AI ive ever experience in gaming with the Sain AI mod.
Also games like incursion red river and grayzone warfare [issues and all] are excellent pve only extraction experiences.

Im not totaly disagreeing with you here but i do disagree that pvp is as important as you say.

Having said that im itching to play this as it looks exceptional, ive expressed my interest on steam but nothing as of yet.

Finally got around to giving this a go last night thanks to @Tombstone ;)

Wasn't overly impressed in the game though, I certainly feel its been over rated and definitely think some big content creators have been paid to say good things about it and hype it up!

Its average at best, With not much replay value Imo, After a few goes nothing really wanted to make me jump back on, A combination of Generation Zero & The Division id say.

What i will give them is its well optimised and runs very smooth, Maxed out 1440P,With all the bells and whistles on including ray tracing seeing a good 180 fps.

Yep, GrayZone got it right - you choose PVE or PVP each time you login

Only issue i have with GZW is the AI,the devs are always saying they are working on the AI but nothing has really changed.
Everything else is superb, graphics and gunplay are fantastic.

Yeah, I think I'm largely in agreement. I enjoy Tarkov and I really enjoy PvP fights in that game (particularly when it's that intense that you ditch the backpack and just go for it) but I also think that PvE is really enjoyable - and a mate of mine exclusively plays the SPT mod (he's never been one for multiplayer shooters) because he loves the whole world and state of Tarkov as a game but can't be bothered with any sort of PvP engagements.

To be honest with Tarkov I only ever really play after a wipe - and even then it's usually for the first 2 weeks before it ends up being people who spend 12 hours on the game running the show.

I think the hardest thing to balance, if you do offer an exclusive PvE mode, is the level of loot you can achieve in strictly PvE vs. the loot in PvPvE. I don't think PvE should ever give you the same tier as PvP does - but I don't know how they'd balance that.

In terms of Arc Raiders, just got a survey through asking me to give some feedback so assuming others might have got it too?
