Arc Raiders

People don't seem to understand what makes this game great.

If you don't like PVP and want it removed, might as well ask for PVE to be removed also and the servers to be shut down.

Or, you know, go play a different game maybe?
any one asking for the pvp to be removed just needs to be ignored, they'll be playing something else within the week anyway, even if the pvp was removed. there's pve games galore out there to enjoy.....why buy a pvpve game then complain about there being pvp. makes no sense.

cause people enjoy dog turd games I certainly do.. I've played loads of guff over the years

same as people like watching crappy films :)
aye active matter can **** right off.....looks like something from 10 years ago and plays much the same. shortest playtest i've ever done

Yeah, thats another reason why devs need to be careful who they listen to. When someone has already decided to check out of a game, sure, you can make some changes, maybe bring that person back for a short while but more often than not they arent going to be returning as a long term player because they've already checked out once and are likely to do so again. Its a bit like when you decide to break up with someone, sure, you might go back for another short booty call but you're not going back long term :D

WARNING: I did the puzzle in Blue gate, at Raiders refuge there's a small church with a hatch around the back with 4 lights, there's 4 switches scattered about the place (random locations) I was hunting for them and a random shows up and we make friends as we both look for them. We eventually got in, he ran down first and got into a firefight with someone who was already in there. Either they cheated/ghosted in or managed to get through the underground some how (there's no other way into this puzzle room).

Anyway thankfully I follow and take him out, my buddy is DBNO and I dont have a revive as this is solos, so I start frantically searching through the draws for one, he's like "you'll never find one buddy, thanks for showing me the puzzle." The last draw I search had a revive and with like a second on the clock I get him up. I now have the ability to open the advanced cache things, so I opened that and found blueprints. We both made it to the extract alive. Absolute Kino.

**** cheaters.

Also 4th crash today :/

see i'm not sure i'd agree with that about someone checking out of a game - pubg for example, released with tpp mode only. after much moaning and complaining from the community they added fpp and to begin with it was awful (your characters nose ended up level with door handles etc which just felt weird) but it became the default game mode for the more serious player - and the game became absolutely huge (although they then fisted it to hell and back trying to monetise the life out of it). i know plenty of people that checked out from the initial release but came back when fpp was added, equally i know plenty that checked out when fpp was added due to the weird physical position the character seemed to have in fpp - i was one of those actually, initially hated fpp and couldn't continue with tpp as it didn't suit the games play style) but i popped in and out, played some tpp and some fpp back and forth and eventually got to grips with the flaws with their fpp implementation and ended up pumping far too many hours into it.

even with that being said, i don't want arc's dev doing anything right now. they need to let the game settle (player numbers) and see where the game sits popularity wise once this initial honeymoon period is over. then they can look at making changes if changes are indeed required. again, only my opinion but i would not be surprised to see fpp introduced further down the line, even though they've apparently said they won't due to how the game world is built (pubg devs said the similar prior to adding it) - personally much as i prefer my pvp games to be first person, line of sight changes would be a better implementation, i think, rather than shoehorning fpp in. as i said earlier, the ai side of things almost demands that the player is playing in tpp viewpoint.

but to remove pvp completely, yea that'll absolutely kill the game, imo.

anyways - it's a friday evening, i fully expect to spend the next 6 hours fannying about shooting drones and crap....maybe see some of you losers topside :D :p

I bought this not knowing what to expect. Made it through the tutorial/intro but not sure I'll get much of a chance to play tonight.

Is this fine solo or better to team up? I only watched a single video on it but for £26 I thought it was worth a punt!

I mostly play solo and have been having a lot of fun, for the most part other players are friendly. But being PvP I’ve also encountered a few extraction campers, a few shoot on sight types and have vice versa also done the same to other players.

Many would say its actually safer solo than in groups, solo seems to have a lot of folks who just want to go about their business and are less aggressive, groups tend to bring out the stella artois or buckfast in everyone

Solo is ok but there’s more fun to be had grouped up.

Edit: by more fun I mean you’ve more chance of some weird and wonderful interactions in a group. Solo you’ll possibly just scuttle about, sticking to the brush/cover while you crap yourself waiting for death to rain from above :p

i think the other issue with this, is that it doesn't generate any real tension in the pvp, possibly because of the tpp - i've yet to be in a scrap and after winning be thinking to myself, jeez lousie that was tense/exciting. i win a fight and it's a case of 'meh' next, or i die and rejoin another game 2 minutes later - i've even found myself not bothering to even loot a dead player after a successful fight. outside of the novelty of the ai it's all just very samey to me.
A full trio going up against another trio can be quite fun / tactical. But in solo, yes, a lot of the time it's a brief affair with one party gaining the immediate advantage by shooting first. Desync is beginning to annoy me though.

Yeah, they definitely shouldn't be able to get in there without doing the puzzle / installing the batteries.

Bizarrely I’ve had much more ’fun’ in the solo fights I’ve been involved with. Team scraps that I’ve encountered tend to just boil down to a war of attrition over ammo and meds or over in a blur because one team steps out from behind cover the they’ve been tpping from the minute they see the other team in the open (been the victim and perpetrator of such a move several times now)
However I’d still argue squads is more entertaining if nothing more than from the social aspect.

A PvE mode I can see them adding somewhere down the line but I dont think they will ever add FPP.
What’s your rationale for that thinking? I’d have thought any and all options would be on the table if it improved the overall game experience. I know they’ve said they don’t see fpp working (nor do I if it’s purely fpp rather than a hybrid) but like pubg before them, what devs they say and what they do don’t always align.
Have they made any comment on the likelihood of a PvE option only? I’d have no interest in a PvE only game but I’d be curious to see what their take on it is.

Because I think that they are more likely to add an optional PvE mode, than to completely alter their game to being FPP, one adds 1 mode to the game, the other fundamentally changes everything in the game assuming that they dont just add FPP servers, which I dont see happening , they would have to completely reverse their game vision and change the game for everyone to FPP. I just do not see them doing that at all

Fair one and I can see why they’d not want to. That said, I’d not expect them to switch completely to fpp - rather I’d have thought they’d run both options in tandem and let the player base decide which to play - if the did decide to add fpp.
Personally I don’t think they’ll do either (add fpp or PvE only) unless something disastrous happens and the player base falls off a cliff and it’s a last roll of the dice to entice players back but equally I don’t see the argument against fpp being stronger or weaker than PvE only. If one happens I’d be surprised not to see the other happen too.
