Arc Raiders

Another round done, heres a new one, guy at the extraction point asked me if he could shoot me a couple of times as he has a feat to damage players with a shotgun, I say sure thing and he takes some shots, I shield back up and heal so he can get some more and then we extract :D
Can I transfer to your plane of existence ? I feel like I'm living in Tarkov ;)

Lol, I only wish I had an explanation, so it could help others who are just getting shot at nonstop or backstabbed (I've still not yet had someone say dont shoot and then shoot), but I just have no explanation, I dont think I'm playing any differently, I'm just playing what I deem as normally, running about , looting, shooting some arcs, using voice comms to chat to everyone I see. I dont often go to red zones but I do go to yellow zones etc. Nothing especially different about the way I play ! Maybe its my deluxe edition man with no name outfit, I mean nobody wants to get into a gunfight with Clint Eastwood :D

Lol I'm going to have to start doing some of these Lucky Duck runs :D

12:00 onwards when about 5 people group up and find a defib just as he is about to die , is awesome !

Did about 4 runs this evening as a duo with a buddy and we saw a couple raiders and heard some but never got into any scraps so I'm making some nice progress with my unlocks. I "think" I'm getting a handle on my inner kirby and selecting my loot with a little more care (he says with about 119/120 in his stash atm)

Just tried a duo free loadout run on Stella Montis. Intense! Lots of spongy robots! Some decent loot to be had! looted a Torrente from some random bleeping box. Found a few dead raiders, also happened upon another duo, we were both like what do we do now. we just carried on hoping they wopuld just bugger off in their own direction but they popped a few shots at us, I returned with a good few bursts of torrente fire which seemed like was enough to make them think twice about carrying on the engagement.

On spaceport we saw another duo get in a scrap with a leaper, I dont know if they planned it or not but one of them was nice and safe up a set of stairs watching on as his mate fought for his life. I thought "thats not fair", so I took a cheap shot and whacked him with my L4 Ferro and he promptly evacuated the stairs into to the carnage below that was his mates scrap with the leaper, I dont know if it got them both but we saw at least one flare pop before we extracted down a raider hatch giggling away like a couple of school girls.

Certainly feels like there has been some matchmaking tweaks. Majority of the players who have shot at me have been using a Venator tier 4 ; none of the free loadout crew.

We know duos are matching more, but apparantly they have become very sweaty. I also think Rank or loadout value (or both) must play a part, the odds of you running into almost entirely friendly game is 95% as long as you are friendly too and you're running a free loadout. The moment you take your own loadout (even a cheap one) it becomes more shoot on sight, and it really really becomes shoot on sight if you take in something like a rare or epic gun. The meta has already settled on the Venator IV. The streamers and sweaty players are already stocking what they expect to be the best weapons after they nerf it, so they're kind of way ahead of the devs.

That said the sweats now tend to stick to specific maps and/or locations in the maps where the very best gear is, mostly those after blueprints. If you go as a Trios with juiced loadouts into the tunnels under Blue Gate you're going to get utterly dumpstered.

Those area are often hit and run too, you can have fairly close spawns, use stims to get there ASAP and find the high loot rooms emptied already meaning it's kind of luck if they're even lootable as to where you spawn. This is made infinitely worse if you spawn into the map late, this destroys any chance at you finding good loot (read: blueprints)

Needless to say I think the endgame is a bit of a mess right now, people are going to these area specifically to just get into fights as fast as possible, looting has become almost entirely secondary to the game. Most of these people just trade Venator IVs and have inventories stacked with them. I'm going to go out and a limb and say I don't even know if workbenches even matter. A lot of time the more advanced kit is worse, the slower speeds of using the stronger healing and shields are favoured less over the speed of lower tier things. You can buy a lot of the OK gear, people already have millions in spare coins. Finding nades and stuff in match is pretty common once you know where the locations crates have a chance of spawning. Most of your guns are just re-used off bodies you kill since there's still quite a lot of luck in that. The second teaming and third teaming and sometimes even a 4th means where you are in that chain of fights decides who comes out alive most of the time.

I don't believe the devs have the experience to know what to expect from the kind of end game they're setting up here, if they can't stay ahead of the META in the game, it will become pretty boring play quite fast, people will stick to the same maps, the same few corridors and routes, the same few weapons, etc. I've already found myself clearing out my stash of any just objective bad or useless guns, leveling everything else to IV, getting mods on everything to sort of compress the value of the stash more so I can just pick from a shelf of ready made stuff rather than build it each round.

For reference on this, I am one of those who has 95% friendly runs and I never run a free loadout anymore, my set loadout is always the same though, a rank 4 Stitcher paired with either a rank 3 Anvil or Renegade, for tools I carry 3 heavy fuse nades, 5 impact nades, 3 shield rechargers, 5 herbal bandages and 1 defib for reviving other people, medium shield and blue augment.

For this weekend (weekend number 3) steam chart watch, 389k at approaching midnight. Last Friday night at midnight it was 329k, so its up 60k again this weekend, so thats the 2nd consecutive Friday night that the number of players has risen, population is still on the increase. Tomorrow is Tarkov 1.0 so quite interested to see if that creates any dent in the Saturday night figures.

Truth is I dont think anyone knows quite how they matchmake but it could just be the value of your inventory total, stitcher is common and cheap, but like a rank 4 epic gun is worth a lot more. This has reliably been my experience, I always start every day off with a free kit until my brain has woken up before I take something good. By the time I'm taking fully kitted rares or epics everyone is out for blood, and they tend to be carrying way better inventories. You can tell when you loot what you're up against because of the types of augments you find on the bodies, you know if you're in a "free kit lobby" because maybe 80% give or take, all run free kits.

My feel since launch is that about 50% of the free kit lobbies are people questing, no one wants to waste good kit when you're distracted with a MSQ.

Every time I get killed while looting, or worse, back-stabbed by some duplicitous **** that has feigned friendliness, it drives me closer to the dark side.

I wouldn't remove pvp or change it. It's part of the thrill and gives the cooperation real meaning.

But man, I'm so close to killing everything that moves on sight right now.

And then you get a round like my last one, where everyone was friendly, and someone even handed me the loot they saw I was looking for. (Lemons and apricots they had collected).

Never had that before.

I think the extremes between friendliness and hostility are akin to real life. On this basis it’s the most realistic game ever

Stella montis is absolute chaos in duo/trio's, love it!

Did a duo free loadout last night and ended up finding a stitcher & anvil, we didn't see any people up until the big snowy room where the bastion spawns (near the extraction). So we thought we would have a go at taking it down with just an anvil 2 and a ferro :D nearly managed it too shot all the legs off but couldn't finish it off. By this time the extraction behind us was the only one left open with not much time left. It seemed like raiders were coming in from every angle, some just dropping from the top level in the middle in a hurry to get back  managed to fight my way back and make it out with a minute to spare (minus my teammate), there was bodies everywhere and I didn't even get chance to loot them. Not sure how many I actually knocked but got 3000 xp just for knocked raiders so must've been a few.

Highlight was when I downed 1 guy in a hurry to get back I heard him say "awwwww man"

So what is the basic idea of this game?

I've run about 5-6 "raids?" and died all times except two where I just scavanged some stuff and went straight to the evelator and escaped.

Is it just to loot stuff to buy better weapons/gear etc?

How do you play as a team or do you need to invite your steam friends?

Is it normal that I absolutely suck and seem to die to the most basic of flying drones? Even that heavy weapon (wahtever it is single shot starter weapon) it seems to you need to hit them 3 times?

For hornets and wasps aim for their little propellors, breaking one of them makes it difficult for it to fly, breaking a second means it'll die on it's own by crashing.
