Arc Raiders

Yeah might explain your run of luck there. Also its to stop getting easy solo player lobbies where most people are not going in to fight. :)

I solo/squad about 50/50 I'd say, but I only ever squad with people I know, I just dont trust randoms to not shoot first at people, or to just run off on their own, or to make noise when we should be being quiet, or to push when they should be holding (or vice versa) or to have each others backs etc :)

Last night I played with 1 real life friend and 1 guy that was a random (but he stayed with us after) for six games straight. Used same loadout, killed leapers and rocketeers. Enjoyable.

Other nights I can go in solo or with pugs if mates are not on and the experience is all over the place. For these I run a loadout I expect to lose.

Yeah I love the game, tbh if it wasnt for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 coming out this year, Arc Raiders might even have been my GOTY (and its been a long time since a shooter was my GOTY), I always play either solo or with RL friends/my other half. Been great fun so far, can honestly say that there hasnt been a single round in 100 hours that has riled me up :)

EDIT : actually just looked back through my GOTY spreadsheet (I've kept one for a long time ! ), last time a shooter was my GOTY was in 2013 - Battlefield 4, so its been over a decade since I rated a shooter as highly :)

Yeah I remember BF4 was great and it was when we lost the good broadband connection after moving so I stopped online shooters for a lot of years. On fibre now I have been getting back into them, I would say last year my goty was helldivers - we played that for a solid 6-8 weeks was great fun.

Satisfactory was my GOTY last year :)

Look at all those friendly people, all apart from that fool who shot at me and promptly got killed :)

Ok so I played a few more games in squads and it's much better.

I can't stress this enough, this game needs a decent sample size of games to really get a good idea of what the experience is like. If offers big highs and big lows and not much in between. I was unlucky in the server slam stress test pre-release, I had to really push through to get a wide sample of games both solo, duo and Trio, with both randoms and friends.

Trios with randoms is generally not good, solos you have 100% control over your own noise footprint, how much to sneak, when to risk traps etc. But you also can have the worst luck, as you run better kits, players are more likely to be KOS, and there simply more competing interests on the map. So you can find yourself killing 2-3 people in a giant clash, thinking you're out scott free, only for another solo to snipe you.

With Trios the battles are more strategic and intense, and prolongued because team mates can res, and cover you while you heal. Players on the map are more clumpy as the trios tend to stick close together.

Had a really rough few games today especially on the new map but redeemed myself just now. 2 clear outs of Town Hall, Blue Gate Communications Tower. Couple of other runs too all with a kitted out Osprey IV and Vulcano IV. Got plenty of player kills and had some nice interactions too. The Vulcano is ridiculous.

Had a go at solo after a long time. It's a completely different game. Six of us sat making daisy chains, singing songs, and skipping to the lift. Can't be having that.

Turns out a I had @Tombstone mode on.
Excuse me, had a bit of bile in the back of my throat.

Played last night and just stuck to the 'normal' maps avoiding Stella Artois

Was fine and just like normal in terms of PVP etc?

Went on the new map and it was just a PVP bloodbath, not for me.

Lol, I just arrived at the metro on Stella, ahead of me were 2 guys who I'd seen earlier running about, they stood by each other as the train arrived, I was still a distance away. Soon as the train arrived, one guy shoots the other guy in the back and kills him. From where I was sat hiding, I could hear the guy on the chat saying "why? Why'd you do that? We could extract together..why? Why? WHY?". Guy 2 finishes him off. He moves in to loot, so I kill him from my hidey hole.

Soon as I kill him, another guy arrives, must have seen me killing this guy, assumes I am hostile and shoots me in the back, so I have to turn round and kill him too.

Between the 3 dead bodies I got some nice loot, all without being the bad guy in any of the fighting :)
