Yes, if you didn't do the first expedition you wont get the chance to make up any additional points that you didn't get first time round.@Nullzzz
I hope you are right but I didnt do the first expedition, I am signed up to the second, I have 11.7m worth of stuff, and its only saying 5 skill points for me?
I don't think I missed anything....
I didn't do it the first time, and I doubt I ever will. Have all the blue prints now, couldn't cope with having to find them all again!

Yup I didn't think it sounded fair to those that did the first one otherwise.
With regards to the gear it doesn't bother me at all.
Other than Wolfpack BP I won't really miss anything. I got all the best guns etc in the game, got Aphelions and Jupiters, Tempests, Bobcats, level 3 augments, heavy shields, snaphooks you name it I have them all and several of.
And I basically hardly ever use any of that stuff anyway. Anvil and Renegade have their uses in PVE, but even then not significantly better over just running around with a Ferro/Stitcher, even a Rattler levelled up isn't that terrible. Plus you can buy those for cash anyway.
As for augments, Looting mk2 is ... almost.... as good as any of the others.
I like to see some further balance to make the good stuff more worthwhile using but right now it's marginal at best.

I only played a few games yesterday, but if anything it seemed smoother with less pop in that usual - which was music to my ears.

Ref the expedition, what happens if you're about 50% through submitting the stuff into the 4 categories for stage 5, but then don't complete / go?
I dropped off it and got sucked into Witchfire so miles behind and doubt I'll catch up by the end of the week, plus the needed 3M cash / value. Do I just lose all the stuff submitted so far? Guess yes but not sure if anyone who was around the first time knows?

no not at all you can keep it all for next time (as in you keep your partial construction... you don't get all the stuff back)

yup, once you commit the resources that's them gone, whether you go ahead and reset or not - think it shows a warning to that effect too.
edit: i've not worded the above very well - as others have said, the 'stuff' you've committed is gone but the progress 'saves' so if you decide to come back to the game you can carry on but you can't reclaim the resources you've committed.

I have not seen anything from Embark suggesting the catchup system is not happening, I think they are just not communicating it in the in game UI, which is not helpful, especially to players who would need to grind some more for the catch up skill points.
Once you have completed all requirements and choose to depart, then you are locked in, prior to that commitment though, your caravan remains and all resources can be used for the next expedition.
Communication in game and out is something Embark could do better I think.

Ah great thanks guys. Working so couldn't check in game info, and thought just popped into head while catching up on thread!

If you have a look at reddit, it states the catch up system is only available for those that did the first expedition.
So I guess if you did the first one, but didnt have the cash value to gain all 5 points, any that you didnt get, you can now pay for and get this time, along with potentially 5 new ones as well.
However if you didnt do the first expedition at all, you cant now gain any more than 5 skill points total, in this expedition.

This^^ plus to buy any points that you didn't get on the first expedition, you now only have to pay 300,000 for each point!
I missed the 1st expedition but signed up today for the 2nd. Only had half the blueprints so no great loss, looking forward to starting again but with the knowledge. Not so much looking forward to fighting off the new arc with basic weaponary mind!
Same, I didn't' have the game when the first 1 was active.
Signed up for it today though!

actually wasn't too far away - only provisions needed so maxed all stage 5 expedition now. Only on 1.5M total value so not sure I'll get another 1.5M in 4 days!
Thought seeing as I'll throw this character away I'll try PVP for the first time. Ganked someone after they fought a Rocketer, but now feel really bad - got an Aphelion / wolfpacks and total 100k worth of stuff! It's strange, it should be a PVP game but (to me) it doesn't feel right to play it like that Much prefer carebear PVE mode!

Honestly it wouldnt be so bad as actual pvp, if there was a way to fix just dying as your looting, as solo pvp its mostly hide and kill someone when theyre looting. Which is just dishearting. Teams its better as you get a bit of a chance when shot.
I dont know how you balance it better though.
Care bear pve is good, but montis on pvp is chaotic and hilarious.

Fully agree with this. I’m just running super bare minimum loadouts now. An anvil with silencer, a couple of boxes of ammo, shield, bandages, adrenaline and lure. It allows me to PVE without losing much if someone wants to gank me while looting.
They have a lot of work to do to make this a better experience for someone doing PVE and getting into PVP situations.
