Arcade High Scores! Current Game: RASTAN - COME ON IN!

8BitDo Arcade Stick delivered and set up.

Tried buttons but I think joystick waggling works well for me.

Joystick ball in the palm of the hand technique.

New high score 60300, so quite an improvement.

I didn't make a note of the individual round best scores. Is there a way to display these?

Need to remember how to do the high jump again as I used to be able to do it.

You just need to jot them down as you go through - it does cycle a few events after so you can see the records but i think it only does 100m 110m and long jump.

im like neo in the matrix, swivelling from my mister which is on my desk behind me to my main pc with the forum open updating inbetween events

I tried on my pi5 last night, i think my old SFIV joystick is looser so i could probably improve my times using that it seemed a better waggle but the input lag was a bit noticable compared to my mister and CRT.

if you reset high scores first, then have them auto save that should do it, i think its due to the way the letters are in the emulated version.

I noticed that with the 100m. Not sure on hurdles will have to check.

Oh make sure on high jump you 'run' after you take off to get extra height. Not sure if some are doing that?

ive played the game for 40 years and never known that on the high jump before!

Ha brilliant I did wonder. Your other records didn't seem to line up so assumed as much. Tap to auto run, tap jump, then run, then edge over.

Javelin also gets 1000 points if you hold down fire and hit that thing at the top but not sure it's worth it. That's about all I know.

yeh i always go for the 1000 points - as its the best score from each event so if you get a banger time first throw then go for the two UFO kills with the next two.

Not really if anything they were worse. I got the Jav and High Jump bonuses though.

It also seems like there is no bonus for the hammer even though there's a graphic for it.

I remember a while back a guy named Dith Purkinje had a great web page (no longer available) for Konami's Track & Field. He was able to find and extract all the graphics for the secret bonuses for each event from the game's rom set... even the 'mysterious' hammer throw bonus which no one has...

yeh thats pretty much impossible to get - dont think the 100m and 110m hurdle bonuses are worth going for either since you would have to slow down.

Even if you get to the hardest level and start to loop the game theres a ceiling for difficulty so the times dont always come down and the cpu get faster by much on those events.
