1st try 35,590. Played this one a fair bit in the early 90s. I played it through on Mame a little more recently but probably used dozens of continues.

I honestly dont remember it being as difficult - maybe the megadrive one was a lot easier and thats what im remembering.

Me too. Maybe the option to throw extra coins in or click on Start made the game easier.

Improved to 73,090. Cleared the first bosses and made it a few screens into the next level. It's a shame you can't keep the robot thing across levels.

Managed to carry the first life all the way up to very near the second level boss, then Epic Games decided to sent me a notification and minimised the Mame window. The third level has this wheel enemy thing which just runs you over. I suspect this game is designed just to take your money. More frustrating than I recall.

yeah massively, i played on that first credit for a bit to see how hard it gets, it is really hard!
