Arcade machine

You lost me a bit on the monitor Graemer.
Do you have a 19" pc monitor or TV ?

I have access to a couple of 21" CRT monitors at work that are being chucked out so I need to decide if I go with those or with an old 24" TV or buy something else.

I have an old 28" TV, it might be too big though.

I thought the buttons and joysticks were pretty cheap at under £10 a joystick and under £2 a button ?

I have a 19" pc monitor.

VIRII If you have access to a couple is there any chance of you keeping the best one and if I pay postage costs (about £25) could I have the other one? A bit cheeky I know but i had to ask.

The design I am going with can take up to a 25" TV.

I got the full buttons set for £80 delivered that also comes with the circuit board to connect to a pc.

I'll see if I can get I.T. to let me take both, shouldn't be an issue.
If so I'll have to work out how to ship it to you safely. I might have to crate it or something.

You guys probably have this link already but if not it's worth having a look at Happ Controls

Loads of gear to spend your money on. :D

This is how an intial desire to have a smaller and simpler interface for my daughter to make it easier for her to to play on my Xbox (joystick and buttons as opposed to the rather large for a 3 year old controller pad) becomes a garage to playden conversion a cost of thousands ..............

Gotta be worth it surely.

Dunno if its any use to you but I know a guy who is selling an X-Arcade 2 player stick which he has used only once and wants to get rid of it, so he may do you a good deal.

Thanks for the offer but I have already got the buttons and sticks. I have decided to make them myself rather than buying a control panel.

cheers anyway

Ogami - of your mate is flogging it cheaply I might be interested, would need to be cheap though as I would be taking it to pieces anyway.

for those of you interested my works so far
sorry for the poor quality will get some better ones tomorrow

Looking nice mate.
Are you going to paint it ?
A couple of build sites I have been reading through used Fablon and it looked really good, especially with chrome edgings.

Hadnt thought of using fablon was just going to paint it but fablon could well be the way to go.

Havent had time to look at the power on and off side of things just yet. I will leave that till the case is up and there is a pc in it and then I will look at software etc.

VIRII - I will ask him mate, I would guess he would want half price for it but I will ask him.

These threads make me cringe at the number of cabinets I've smashed to pieces :(

could have made a fortune...

Could anyone suggest some links for stuff to connect the controls, validators, hoppers etc to a PC? Could come in handy..

Have made the control panel now but a major mistake.

When I drilled the holes for the buttons I was careful about the separation to alow 2 people to play but did not realise the wires were not long enough and not well marked when I tried to wire everything up. My only sloution was to fine and online supplier of male / female connectors, some wire and crimping kit. Never mind I guess its a learning curve.

A bit dissapointed as I wanted the control panel ready so I can experiment with the keyboard configurations.

I know it's a bit late now but one tip I'd recommend is to mock your control panel up on cardboard first, a lot quicker than drill test wood panels and easy to make adjustments if you want to change anything.

Does anyone know where I can get a full neo-geo arcade machine with MVS cart compatible board?

Just I want to buy one and get the full metal slug collection and KOF collection need a 100% compatible board.

If I can’t find the full machine a want to buy the board and build the rest links would be great.
