Arcades (Coin Operated)

Haven't got any at home, But works full of them :D What simpsons was it? We've got 2 £5 ones at work any pointers will be welcome.

a few years ago we inherited an old one armed bandit from my dads friend who owned millions of the damned things. i cant remember what its called but its very old (uses old style 5p's that look more like 10p's) and completely mechanical except for a light. apparently its worth quite a bit too

*edit*
found a very similar machine to what we have. the only differences i can see are the prizes and the cost of having a go

Last one armed bandit we had was an oxo machine. Huge thing, mechanical mech and a dirty great steel hopper. Pig to service but seldom went wrong.
Lives with the boss now.

Would really love to pick up a pinball table, if only they were affordable :(

umm... servicing? ours may have been kept in the shed for several years with absolutely nothing being done to it :o

Servicing was done every 12 months or so whether it was needed or not. Thats what we're paid for :p besides I dare say your shed doesn't have a thriving tourist scene....;) Yours may be in better nick.

I would say - grab these machines while you can... those ones with mechanical reels i.e. Barcrest and Bellfruit. They've both been bought out this year by American companies (don't we lose 'em all eh... Cadbury's etc), and the future of pub machines is pretty bleak. They will be taken over entirely by video slots... kinda like the touch-screen quiz machines but as video slot machines. Takes away the fun in my opinion if mechanical reels are replaced by computer graphics.

Ok, not coin op but....

iMAME + iPhone or iPod and you have a world of real arcade games.

Pretty small tho'

Still does not weigh as much as a full size cab, cost a pile, and use up a load of space!

One day I will have a restored Outrun cab. In the meantime I scratched an itch and made a small working one using a GameBoy :-)
