ARCADES

The last decient arcade I went in was funland in the Trocadero when I visited London a couple of years back.

They are all such a rip off its no wonder they've died in britain!

They used to be miles ahead in the graphics stakes but as home consoles have swallowed them up the exclusive releases seem to have stopped. As has been said even the novelty peripherals are not so special anymore now you can have most of them at home.

Go to any bowling alley in Britain (dont matter what company!) and you will find the same dozen arcade games which are nearly all 5+ years old:

Time Crisis 2 (a classic but old as the hills) with at least one of the recoils on the guns broke.
Time Crisis 3 If you're lucky.
Dancing Stage Euromix 2 (been known to partake in a bit of 5,6,7,8 before now :o)
Daytona USA 2 or Sega Rally 2.
House of the Dead 1/2/3
Final Furlong 2 (sure fire way to give yourself a heart attack!)
Crazy Taxi
Virtua Tennis

Arcade in britain now means 200 fruit machines where chavs chuck there giros in once a week.

It seems to me that the arcade owners have discovered that a £x,xxx fruit machine that takes up [---] much space brings in more £/hr than a £xx,xxx arcade machine that takes up [-------------] much space :(

Bit of a shame but good for my wallet :p

BEST arcade I'm been to recently (and was only in April) is at Cleethorpes, just when you get off the train.

Absolutely massive, has some old classics as well as the newer ones, there's also a really 'nice' arcade here at Mumbles at the end of the pier (and the chippie next door to it is pretty good too)

Went to Disney Quest while in Florida, and it was awesome.

Had all the up to date games i.e. 4 player Mario Kart, 4 player Outrun 2, 8 player Daytona USA, Tekken 5 etc.

A whole floor with retro arcade games eg Spyhunter, Marble Madness, Donkey Kong, Defender, every Pac Man imaginable and LOADS more.

Couple that with the new numerous VR games, create your own rollercoaster then ride it, Animation schools and create your own song. I was in heaven.

Included in my hopper ticket too, otherwise it would have been £20 to get in then unlimited plays on everything (Bargain tbh).
