ArcheAge Beta now taken Sign ups!

been looking forward for this game for a while, only mmo next to wildstar I've been looking forward to this year, hopefully get a key.

Well... if I can't grief and cause mass emo tears then I won't be playing, guess it depends on the punishment, that system sounds like it's exploitable.

For those who aren’t familiar with the game, there are two continents that are safe from PVP. But north of them, across the Sea of Serenity is the Land of Origin: ArcheAge’s big free-for-all PVP area. Buildings can be built, razed, fought over, and sieged. Alliances will be made and broken, friendships enriched, and enemies made. The Land of Origin is where castles are built, tenants on your land are taxed, and riches are earned by the players with the gall and wherewithal to build up and hold onto their empire. Additionally, it’s worth noting that XLGAMES has taken care to make the eastern safe continent reflect the eastern Asian aesthetic, while their western safe continent has a more medieval look and feel.
Guess you can sail a ship between the 2 blasting cannon at the newbs trying to get across :D or wait for them to land

I'm not sure I'd like being able to lose all your gear or whatever when dying (because I'm useless and die all the time!) but I'll definitely give it a go, as that is the only part of the game I'm not sure about.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

YES YES YES YES!!!!

I have been waiting sooooooooooo long for this!

Oh god, I'm actually giddy with excitement! I REALLY hope it's like L2. That sucked the social life out of me :(

It's not PvP unless its FFA full loot rules!
yea no risk no fun :D

It's almost guaranteed this game will have a nice pvp community , it's going to be fun fighting over land and besieging other peoples castles and cities.

I guess the light weight pvpers can be farmers staying clear of the main fights :P people like cHk4 will be looking for you :p

Cheers for this. Reminds me a bit of Lineage 2 which isn't a bad thing :)

The guy who was behind Lineage 1 +2 is behind Archage, they have similar mechanics

ahhhhh Lineage 2 the days of griefing, turning red on someone who tried to take over your lvling spot, sieges, and harassing the chinese farmers :D loved it!

It's about time the korean beta has been going for ages

Probably not fair to judge the game from that video, but it seems to be another MMO intent on not doing anything different.

Past char creation, it looks like another game following the WoW formula by the numbers.

that videos a year old
what other mmo has naval combat , ship building , house building , castle building , land owning , player cities, airships , gliders etc
all in the open world not protected by instances

Ultima Online? (no airships, it was isometric view)

I played Lineage 2 from day one beta when you were able to keep your beta character when the game went live. I remember everyone making characters at the same time and over 400 plus dark elves all pking and fighting to kill mobs lol we all did a massive zerg rush on the light Elf starter village around level 9.
The only thing I am after in an MMO these days is the feeling you got from the old school days.. EQ, L2, SWG etc

Sadly everyone wants to make MMOs easier to play. Little arrows that guide you from point A to point B, or herd you to the next task giver. Flashing icons everywhere so even the most ADD riddled kids can't get distracted and forget what button he needs to press next.

Complete lack of mystery, lore, exploration, etc, etc.

It's so mindless these days.
