Archlinux installation

Hi,

I'm attempting to install 2009.08 but it fails to get to the command shell as it comes up with error I/O buffer failed on device sr0.

At first I thought it was a dodgy CD so I made another. That didn't work so I downloaded the iso file again and burnt yet another CD. Again, this didn't work... I tried it on my main PC and it worked fine so turns out I wasted a few CD's.

I know there is nothing wrong with my laptop cd drive as the older version of archlinux that I have works just fine as well as many other distro's.

Is there a way around this? I would like to use arch using ext4 which isn't supported with my older version of arch cd.

Can anyone assist?

Many thanks

P.s I now have Gentoo up and running nicely on my main computer - woohooo :D

The initrd of the new disk doesn't have a suitable kernel module for your sata cdrom.

Use the old cd, but do an ftp install instead. :)

Stop the train! It looks like it's working... I just left it be and it sorted itself out.

Could've done an FTP I suppose if it didn't work, but was just agitated that it didn't work so thought I may have to boot up using some set flag or something to get around it. *shrug*
