PLEASE IGNORE - I'VE JUST SPOTTED A THREAD WHICH ANSWERS THIS QUESTION - SORRY, SHOULD HAVE LOOKED MORE CAREFULLY.
I have parts for an upgrade, including an Athlon64 3700 and an Arctic 64 Freezer Pro.
After quick inspection I notice that the Arctic 64 Freezer Pro is pre-fitted with a thermal compound.
Now, in the past with lesser heatsinks, I have removed the pre-applied stuff and used Arctic Silver 3 compound instead.
However, before doing this I'd thought I'd check with you guys first ....
The Heatsink has non-metallic MX-1 paste pre-applied and according to the Arctic-Cooling site this is as good if not slightly better than AS3.
So should I just install as per the instructions or should I use AS3 instead - what do you guys do?
