ARCTIC Cooling Accelero X1

They look ok but as far as I can tell from the virtual-hideout review the hot air from the cards doesn't look like it gets dumped out the back of the pc.

from that HKEPC review theres only 2*c drop in temperature compared to the stock cooler. and it looks like a huge cooler too

crap design tbo the hot air is getting pushed out near the slot then it will get drawn back round by the fan

Pushing the air out the back makes about a 1c diference to case temps if that.
Also this cooler is designed for silence not performance. Although it is a bit better than stock.

Does anyone know when these, and the new zalmans will be out?

But the Zalman VF700Cu reduced temps on my X800Pro by 20 degrees plus on 5V with one Akasa Amber case fan @ 300rpm (went for silence mainly)

hehe 52db is far from quiet so it even fails at that so its utter pap

just so you know 52db is the same rating as an 80mm delta focused flow wich is mighty loud

They're also very quiet which is not surprising since "quiet" is a trademark of Arctic Cooling's philosophy.

And you cannot measure everything in db, the type of noise makes a huge diference.

yea he says quiet but doest show any numbers

quiet to some is loud to others its based on opinion

thats jap site gives numbers and its still only 4-5db behind the stock cooler

i dont go for fans over 20db just so you know even then they get slowed down so i like my silence

least the old ac's were a decent cooler and much quieter then stock coolers and they cool your system temp

You could have something thats 300db but out of our hearing range, you understand what I am saying?
We are much more sensitive to certain frequencies which can play a huge part in what is considered loud i.e. a 40mm fan producing 60db will be much higher pitched and more noticeable/annoying than a 120mm fan producing 60db.

Out of interest is it worth while removing the covers on the back of the case for the pci slots when using a cooler that doesnt expel the air out of the case ie zalman vf700-cu? Asking as its one feature i miss from the stock cooler.

I wouldn't have thought so - I doubt it'd make much difference really!

I also like silence - I've got a passive northbridge cooler, Zalman VF700Cu @ 5V on my main graphics card (passive cooler on my secondary card), Akasa EVO120 @ min rpm on the CPU, one Akasa Amber case fan @ about 400rpm (controlled by the PSU) and an Antec TruePower 380W PSU all in an Antec Sonata case

i need a passive nb cooler for my dfi nf4 anyone know of one that isnt stupidly expensive

The Zalman one is good but rather tall. You'll have to mod it by bending the pins to fit it due to the unfortunate positioning of the chipset on the DFI motherboard.

The zalman from this site, £6.

Get it when buying something else so the postage doesnt seem so painful ;)
